Story
Meet Flip! Flip is looking for a foster to take him in and show him the ropes of being a spoiled house dog. Flip is the cutest little guy. He looks like he could be a black lab/basset hound mix with a cute, curly tail thrown in just for funsies. Flip would like to be in a patient home that can give him the time and space to settle in. He seems to not like having his hind legs touched. Flip only likes to go for short walks before he plops down and asks for treats. He is very treat motivated making him very trainable. If you are interested in giving this guy a chance, please stop by the shelter to meet him. Story
Remember Bobby? Well, it turns out his name is actually Taco… That’s right, his owners reached out to the shelter to let them know that he did have people and that his name is Taco. However, they said they would not be reclaiming him. How sad is that? You find out your dog is in a very over crowded, small, rural shelter where euthanizing for space is a possibility, and you chose to leave him there? Taco is nervous about people coming up to his kennel, and because of that, he barks and tries to look and sound tough. Don’t let him fool you though. He is just putting on a show to try to make the things making him nervous back off. The secret to his affection is to offer him some treats so that he can see you aren’t actually scary. Once you get him out of his kennel, he is as sweet as can be. Unfortunately, dogs like this tend to get overlooked because people assume the dog is “aggressive” or “mean.” The sad reality is that terms like this greatly hinder dogs’ chances of making it out of the shelter. Taco is not mean. He is not aggressive. He is fearful when in a kennel. There is a huge difference. All we are asking is that someone give him a chance. He’s already won over our volunteers. Can he win you over too? This boy is stunning! His markings are really something, and he has eyes that will melt your heart. He is pretty decent on leash, and he knows sit. Taco is 59 pounds and is probably around 2 years old. Taco is a dog that will make an amazing pet with some patience and time for him to gain confidence in a new environment. His previous owners did say that he has been known to dig out of a fence, so it is important to supervise him if he is in a fenced in yard. Please share Taco! If you are interested in meeting him, stop by the shelter during their open hours. Taco’s people let him down and chose to just leave him…. He deserves better. We are having to move to a campground and we have to down size our animals as per their rules. He is very playful, but is a bit anxious. He is fine with other dogs as long as there is not food available.
