Story
Poppy will be a wonderful companion for a person who has experience with ACDs and has had them in the past. She would do best in a large fenced in area. She is a great watchdog and she is protective of her people. She is likely between 8 - 10 years of age but she acts like she is still a puppy. Unfortunately I have to part with her due to health issues and having moved not long ago, it isn't appropriate for her to only have a run to play in. She needs to work on her socialization skills but she does enjoy meeting new friends. She loves crawling on her persons lap to be loved on. Please, if you have any questions I’m happy to help.

Story
Meet Cece — The 36-Pound Snack-Fueled Ninja Heeler! At first glance, Cece is a shy little mystery—kind of like that one co-worker who pretends they don’t hear you say “Good morning.” But give her about five minutes, a few kind words, and approximately three snacks, and suddenly she’s your biggest fan and wants to know everything you’re doing at all times. Cece is a 2-year-old, 36-lb Heeler mix, which basically means she’s part herding dog, part marshmallow, and 100% adorable. She may start out timid, but once she warms up, she’ll follow you around like you’re the last treat dispenser on Earth. Cece’s Special Skills: - Olympic-level treat detecting - Quietly appearing behind you like a tiny, polite ninja - Soaking up attention like a fuzzy little sponge - Being the cutest thing in any room, without even trying She’s looking for a patient, kind human who understands that trust is earned with time… and snacks. Mostly snacks. If you're ready for a sweet, loyal girl who blossoms into a total lovebug, Cece is ready to tiptoe her way right into your heart (and your treat cupboard). If interested, please call the shelter at 231-861-5395 and leave a message to be placed on this dog's adoption list. No obligation, but it reserves your place in line on the list. The shelter will contact individuals as they appear on the list. The adoption fee is $95 and you receive certificates for $50 towards spay/neuter and $10 towards rabies vaccine if not already done. All dogs are heartworm tested, receive a DHLPP, flea and tick treatment, and are dewormed.

Story
Meet Cooper; She is very sweet girl, who is looking for her fur-ever home. We believe she is around 3-4 years old and is a cattle dog mix. She came to us when her owner passed away and the other owner couldn’t care for her. Due to her breed or mix of breeds we are looking for a very specific home for her where she will be set up best for success! Cooper is pretty reactive towards people on leash and will nip at shins or ankles. She enjoys lots of exercise, biking right now seems to be her favorite. She’d probably do best as an only dog, as loves all the attention on her! She has had some interaction with other dogs on leash and she will correct them if their energy becomes to much for her.   Cooper also needs a kid free home.   We are requiring that her fur-ever home have heeler experience and be committed to getting her the training that she needs. Cooper will also need someone who is willing to do some training with her. **Cooper being a heeler mix does have high herding tendencies, and has a single “bite history” as she nipped someone in the calf.     An approved adoption application is required. The $200 adoption fee (payable by cash or check only) includes spay/neuter; microchip; dental teeth cleaning (if needed prior to adoption); vaccinations; and heartworm testing. Our adoption application may be found by going to: www.headinhomerescue.org; then click on the link to the adoption application. Dogs for adoption may be seen by appointment only following an approved application. Proof of completion of an obedience class is required for all dogs following adoption. Please note: while we welcome out of state applications, we do not ship our animals and require adopters to come to Holland to finalize any adoption.June 25, 2025, 4:08 pm
