Good with dogs,
Story
Hey, Pokiha here. I love to play fetch and tug with soft toys, so I've learned "drop it", "leave it", and "give it." My leash walking has improved and I have two commands "walk with me" and "heel". I enjoy squeaky, plush toys like "Woobas", a plush snake (my favorite, so it comes with me), and "Kong" plush or crinkly toys like turtles, octopuses, and sting rays. When I'm in my crate stuffed "Kongs", bones, antlers, and "Nylabones" are great entertainment. Speaking of entertainment, I like to make you laugh and do goofy dog antics. A secure fence would make a great place for me to run and play with you, but please don't leave me alone in a fence. I am still leary of strangers, but generally warm up to new people. Greeting new people in a seated or crouched position with treats works well for me. I am catious when meeting new dogs, so a pack walk would be best for an initial greeting. I get to play at a property with a fence and a small pool and I love it. I have also been out to the farm, but it just has lots of fields to run and play in while on a long line. I'd love an experienced, patient dog owner. A fence would also be an excellent option for me. At this time cats are an unknown and children should be older as I jump up sometimes. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Lucky came to us as an owner surrender on March 27th. He was very shy when he first came to us so we didn't place him up for adoption right away. His former owners loved him but they never really let him do "normal" dog things. Lucky had never eaten dog food or even eaten out of a dish when he came to us! Our volunteers have worked really hard with him and he's now blossomed into a fun loving dog who loves to play and has learned how to "dog". He has been vet checked, neutered, and chipped. His fee of $150 is being sponsored by one of our volunteers. Lucky is looking for a very patient and experienced home. He's still shy with new people but has learned to overcome it a lot faster. He is a mix of two very smart and active breeds, both of which are known for keeping people on their toes. Lucky exemplifies both breeds with his energy level and his sometimes frustrating enjoyment of teasing and pushing the ol' envelope. It's all in good fun for him and you can almost see him laughing. He's a goober who loves to play but will settle in for some snuggling and hugs. A FENCED YARD is required for Lucky. His leash skills aren't the greatest yet so a fence will help to keep him secure. He does require some basic training in all areas but loves to learn and makes it a fun experience. An adult only home would be best (teens are fine). He LOVES the companionship of other dogs. Cats are most likely a no for him given his breed mix. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventative, AND spayed or neutered.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 29, 2023, 7:11 pm
