Help us find a home for Artie! Artie is a 2-year-old (almost 3) neutered male Heeler with a big heart and lots of potential! He’s crate-trained, knows several commands, and is food-motivated, making training fun and rewarding. About Artie: -Not food aggressive -Curious (but respectful) with cats -Gets along well with other dogs Behavioral notes: Artie can be reactive and is fearful of most men, so he needs a patient, experienced owner who understands these challenges and can continue helping him gain confidence. This is Jojo. He will be three in Feb. He is a full blooded Blue Heeler. He has been neutered and all shots are up to date. His first two years he lives in a house and was house broken. Since he has been with us he lives outside so he would need a fresher course. He is not good with cats or chickens. He does fine with bigger dogs but not smaller dogs. He is very friendly and learns quickly. If you are interested in Jojo please email loriwhite143@gmail.com

Story
Meet Kirby! He is around a year and a half old and weighs 42lbs. He was adopted from Taney County Animal Control a few months back, but was returned when his new family couldn't get Kirby to adapt to the farm life. Though he is calm, friendly and a great leash walker, he likes to chase farm animals. We know that there is a home out there for Kirby and we are determined to help him find it! If you would like to meet him, head down to Taney County Animal Control Monday- Saturday 12-4!

Story
Speckle has been available for adoption longer than any other dog at the shelter. So what's wrong with Speckle? Surely he must have some defect that makes him hard to love? Some behavioral deficiency that scares people away? Nope. There is not one single thing wrong with Speckle. Speckle is actually one of our most well rounded dogs at the shelter right now. He loves people. He is friendly with other dogs. He walks well on a leash. He has been able to attend daycare and received great reports. He was able to attend an adoption event and interacted with strangers and children wonderfully. Speckle is still just a pup and is only around a year old. He is still playful and silly and despite spending most of his puppyhood in the shelter, he is well behaved and affectionate. This dog has the potential to be a once in a lifetime dog. Imagine how great he could be with someone who was willing to teach him all the things good dogs need to know! During the snow storm, Speckle was able to spend the weekend in a home for the first time since coming to the shelter. His foster gave him a really wonderful write up. "Spending time with Speckle during this snow storm has been such a joy. He is sweet, confident, and full of happy curiosity, always ready to try new things. He has a loving, playful personality and truly wants to please, often checking in and looking to his people for reassurance and guidance. Speckle is great on leash and walks nicely without pulling, which makes our outings easy and enjoyable. He has also made huge improvements in potty training and now stands by the door when he needs to go out — he’s a smart boy who is clearly learning quickly. With his gentle and playful nature, Speckle would be a wonderful fit for a home with kids and a family looking for a dog who is both affectionate and fun. He settles in easily and makes himself part of your routine in the best way." For more info and photos, click here! If you want to know even more about Speckle, please send us a message! There is nothing we love more than telling people about our wonderful dogs!

Story
Meet Thelma and Louise! Thelma is calm, obedient and friendly. She walks well on a leash, knows how to play a game of fetch and how to sit for a treat. She loves to be pet and prefers to be near her person. When I asked the volunteers for info on Louise, this is what I got... Louise is a pack a day smoker. We are trying to get her to cut back but she has been on it since the 80s so it’s slow going. She is a single mom that works 2 jobs. She has no time for any bologna and won’t be taking any notes at this time. She does however KNOW how to sit for a treat, although she takes her sweet time about it and seems suspicious about your asking her to do it. ***Everyone got a laugh out of it, but no one disagreed that it's an accurate description. *** They did however mention that both dogs (yes, even Louise) come when called and love each other very much. If you would like to meet Thelma and Louise (or both!) head down to Taney County Animal Control and ask for them by name!
