She LOVES playing fetch and will play until you can't play anymore! She's an energetic girl that would love an active family, and a backyard is only a bonus for her. Come throw a ball for her, and you'll become best friends in no time! Once she's done playing, she'll cuddle with you all night long. Pixel prefers no cats or kids in her future household. She would do best with dogs her size or larger and will need to meet them before going home! This sweet gal is ready for a forever family!

She loves attention and being told she's a good girl. She's an active dog and would love a space such as a backyard or dog park to exercise in. Emmie is dog-friendly and would just prefer no cats in her future home. She is friendly overall but due to her size and activity level, we recommend no young kids/toddlers with her. Story
Hi there, I'm Beau. I'm still young and full of life. I have a heart bursting with love and kindness. I'm the kind of dog who loves to be around people, always eager to make new friends. I'm mellow and gentle, and I promise I won't jump on you when you come home from work. Instead, I'll greet you with a wagging tail and a happy smile. I promise to bring you unconditional love, just promise to love me back!  If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to request an appointment to meet me. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. No need to call to find out about me, you can ask questions on the application or email questions to info@polkcountyhumanesociety.org. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and Minneapolis, MN areas twice a month. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual and we will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veteinarian ($35). Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! ##2046051##

Story
HI, I'm Maise! Unfortunetly, this isn't my first go around here at PCHS. The first time I was here I was a puppy so it was more fun. This kennel life is just not for me. I've got a heart full of love and a mind as sharp as a tack. I'm the loyal companion you've been searching for, a friend who'll stick by your side through thick and thin. I'm a bit particular about my company, though. I prefer the quiet and calm that comes with adults. Little ones and other pets are a no-go for me. I promise, though, I've got enough love to make up for it. I'm smart, too. I learn quickly and love to show off my new tricks. I'm friendly and sweet, always ready to greet you with a wagging tail and a happy bark. I just need a fenced in yard and someone willing to help me with training! I'm just looking for a home where I can be your one and only. Will you be my forever friend?  Oh, Did I mention that a wonderful person has sponsered half of my adoption fee? Well they did!  If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to request an appointment to meet me. Story
Behaviors- Shy & timid since he is still learning to trust people and to be a dog. Quiet, sweet, & gentle. Cats: Great Other dogs: Great Children: Great Adults: Great Potty Training Progress: He does well on a consistent schedule. His foster takes him out every 3-4 hours during the day. Crate trained: He finds his crate to be his safe place. He sleeps in his crate at night and has not had any accidents. Other behavioral info: Still very shy and timid, tries to hide in couch cushions or behind furniture unless you’re holding him. He opens up with dogs but is still scared of people. If you hold and snuggle him, he is fine. Springsteen will need A LOT of love and patience. He is the sweetest little dog, and he hasn’t made a single sound since coming into foster. Foster still has to help him out of his crate when it’s time to potty, but he does well outside. Foster carries him outside because he is not leash trained and is too scared to walk out on his own. He MUST be kept on a leash even in fenced yard, as he will run and hide and may be hard to catch. Definitely a flight risk so a fenced yard will be required. Other than not understanding people yet, he is the softest, sweetest and most handsome little man. He has one brown eye and one blue eye. Springsteen is going to make an amazing dog; he just needs a lot of love and reassurance. He would also do great in a home with another canine sibling. Aussies are incredibly intelligent working dogs; he will thrive with future training and an active family with other canine siblings.
