Story
Rico and Halo are listed together because they are bosom buddies. We would love to see them be able to have a home together. Both of their information is here in this write up as well as in each of their personal listings.    Rico was a stray, picked up by AC and no one ever claimed him. He is appx 2 yrs old, and is neutered, heart worm negative (will need committed adopter to continue preventative) up to date on shots, worming and flea/tick preventative. Rico is a frisbee champion! He LOVES to play frisbee and can leap up in the air and catch it most of the time. He also loves to play fetch with his ball, he is good to bring it back and give it back to you. He is an intelligent boy, quick to learn, listens well. Rico loves to go for rides in the car.  Rico currently has access to a doggy door, and does great with that. He is good on a leash. Rico can be a bit grumbly when meeting other dogs. But once he knows them he is quite willing to play.  Rico and Halo have been together for quite awhile, they met in the foster home and were instantly comrades and have stayed buddies ever since. Rico was by Halo's side during her heart worm treatment. Their play style is a good match, they both play rough and tumble. Though they will occasionally squabble over a toy, it is quickly resolved without any problems. Both have an abundance of toys and balls to choose from and they make use of them:) Halo has the looks of a Boston Terrier but is much larger, at least in weight. She is short in stature with short legs, she is a little over 15 inches high at her shoulder but is a whopping 70 lbs! She is spayed and up to date on shots, worming and flea/tick preventative.  Halo came to us with severe skin lesions particularly around her neck, which indicates that she had likely had a large collar that was too tight and no care for her skin condition. Sadly Halo also tested heart worm positive. She has finished her treatment and the last blood test showed negative for heart worms YAY!! Halo is appx 2 yrs old Because of the heart worm diagnoses Halo MUST BE ON HEART WORM PREVENTATIVE year round. So her adopter must be committed to continuing her preventative. Halo loves people, belly rubs are a favorite thing of hers. She is a strong girl, and though most times will take treats nicely she can get a bit excited over treats and toys. She wants to know what you have in your hand if you are carrying something and will bounce up to try and get a look. She walks on a leash fairly well, likes to carry the leash in her mouth or maybe a toy or ball on walks. Stuffed toys are quickly destroyed, so tough toys are best for this girl.  Halo LOVES toys and balls!  Her favorite is a Kong squeaky ball, but she loves getting new toys and balls and also chew bones. She has access to a doggy door currently and does very well going outside to do her business. Halo does well with other dogs if they are willing to be friendly and play. She has rough and tumble play style. She MUST have a fenced yard as her curious nature can lead to wandering The ideal home for these two would be a home with no other dogs, cats or small children. Fenced yard is a must so that they can run and play safely. Someone who is dog savvy and understands the time and patience needed in having two sweet but energetic dogs. Commitment to daily play times of frisbee and fetch are essential for these two! Alta is appx 1-2 yrs old, and about 45 lbs. She is an outgoing, active girl. Alta uses a doggy door and has done really well with that. Alta has adorable big ears and she is so happy her tail wags in a big circle! The adoption donation of $175.00 covers spay / neuter, vaccinations, microchip, deworming, and current monthly heartworm and flea and tick prevention. The sweet little girl and her cat friends were left behind when her family moved. Luckily she was kept safe by a neighbor. She will be fixed the first part of December and then ready for a new home once healed. She lived with cats and dogs and is good with kids. Not sure how much she has actually lived in a house or if anyone ever took the effort to potty train her, but she has not messed in her area where she is staying now and uses the doggie door to go out to potty even when raining, but she may need help with that when she has access to a whole house. She is about 22 lb, and they said they thought she was cattle dog and Beagle or Bluetick and Beagle. She is absolutely adorable, extremely sweet and loving, active on leash, and mellows when petted. She is a happy dog.
