Story
Willie is a calm and sweet natured puppy with a quiet and loving presence. He enjoys being around his people and will happily nap nearby, but he is also perfectly content curling up in his own dog bed and doing his own thing. Willie tends to sit back and observe, taking in the world at his own pace. He does well with dogs of all sizes and ages and is comfortable sharing space with them. Cats are a bit intimidating to him, so he politely avoids them and gives them space. He has a nicely balanced energy level, enjoying playtime and gentle exploration before settling in to relax. Willie is learning sit and is already showing how attentive and willing he is to learn. He handles baths and nail trims well and takes it all in stride. Potty training is going very well. Willie prefers going outside but also uses a potty pad when needed. Willie would be a wonderful fit for a home looking for a puppy who is affectionate without being demanding, calm without being shy, and happy to be both a companion and an independent little soul. He is being fostered in Texas, but can be transported. Story
Ember – 9-Week-Old Heeler Mix | Sweet Snuggler with the Perfect Balance Ember truly is the best of both worlds — she has that joyful puppy playfulness everyone loves, paired with an impressive “off switch” that makes her an expert snuggler. She enjoys romping around with toys, exploring her surroundings, and engaging in gentle play, but when it’s time to relax, Ember is more than happy to curl up close and soak up all the affection she can get. For such a young puppy, Ember has a wonderfully easygoing temperament. She transitions smoothly between active playtime and quiet downtime and seems very in tune with her own needs. When she’s ready for a nap, she will seek out a quiet corner and settle herself in, content and calm. Adding to her charm, Ember has adorable short legs that make her even more irresistible and give her a uniquely cute, compact look as she toddles around. Ember is already doing incredibly well with her routine. She is potty trained and can be kenneled without being destructive. While she tolerates her kennel nicely, she is very people-oriented and will let you know if she’s unhappy — especially if her family is home and she can see or hear them. She simply prefers to be near her people whenever possible, which makes her a loving and devoted companion in the making. Ember would be a wonderful fit for a family looking for an affectionate puppy who enjoys playtime but isn’t nonstop go-go-go. She has all the makings of a pup who will grow into both an adventurous sidekick and a cozy couch companion. Ember is currently being fostered in a home in Texas and can be transported after adoption. You can apply directly for Ember by clicking the Apply for Adoption button on the linked page. https://www.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/FODS-A-802 All our dogs come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. Story
*Due to state laws regarding out of state adoptions, we cannot adopt to families in Massachusetts or Rhode Island.* Bruno is a 4 year old heeler mix who loves treats and going for walks. He does fine with other dogs and can be tested with cats upon request.  Listed breed is an educated guess made by our veterinarian and is NOT a guarantee - this also means we have no way of knowing what a puppy's adult size will be. This dog is currently being fostered in Mississippi and will be transported via Barton's Barkers transport services upon adoption. Their adoption fee is $500 and includes spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, a nose to tail vet check, microchip and transport costs. Second Chances lists dogs as being available in White River Junction, VT because we transport our dogs to the area every 3rd week after they have been adopted. All of our local shelters have a high euthanasia rate due to overpopulation so we created our rescue group to primarily adopt to the northern states to help keep as many dogs as we can from entering our kill shelters.   ##2118991##

Story
Bear – 8-Week-Old Heeler Mix | Play-All-Day, Snuggle-All-Night Boy Bear is the total package — playful, loving, and an expert-level cuddle bug. This sweet boy can keep up with the fun all day long, happily playing with toys and romping around with his doggy buddies like it’s the best day ever (because to him, it is). But when the excitement winds down? Bear turns into the ultimate snuggler. He loves being close to his people and will snooze peacefully through the night right next to your head like a tiny, furry pillow. He’s the kind of puppy who bonds deeply and just wants to be where you are. Bear would fit beautifully into a home that wants both playful puppy energy and a devoted little shadow. He’s affectionate, social, and already showing what a loving companion he’s going to be. If you’re looking for a best friend who plays hard and cuddles even harder, Bear is your boy He will be ready to be adopted in Texas in the middle of February! You can apply directly for Bear by clicking the Apply for Adoption button on the linked page. https://www.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/FODS-A-804 All our dogs come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. Story
Welcome Astrid to CCPAL Rescue. She is a 2.5-year-old Cattle Dog and Lab mix maybe. She was adopted as a puppy and returned as an adult. She is now a bit of a timid adult. She is potty trained and good in a crate. We think she may not have stayed home a lot as a puppy and didn’t get the interactions with other people that they need as a puppy. She is timid of new people but she is a nice dog. She is not over the top active and would be fine with a moderately active family. I think her best home is as an only dog where it is quiet and she can get all the attention. She would be great with a person that has a quieter home and is more of a stay home kind of person and doesn’t care that their dog also wants to be a home body. She would be best with someone that doesn’t want a social butterfly but just seeks companionship. She would be fine around children. I would say older like 10 or more. A retired single or couple would be her ideal pick if she could talk. She is healthy, vaccinated and spayed and ready for her forever home. She can be adopted locally in Texas where she is with the rescue. We can also use one of the wonderful transporters to get her to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Her adoption fee is 300 and transport is 180. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email to ccpalinquiries@gmail.com if you have questions.
