Story
Meet Kayak! Kayak is a beloved staff favorite here, he is impossible not to love! We honestly aren't sure why he hasn't found his furever family yet, he is an adorable little goofball with plenty of love to give. Kayak is a mild-mannered boy that will match your energy; want to chill out and snuggle? He's your guy! Want to play? He'll do that! Looking for a walking buddy? He can do that too! While Kayak loves to make new friends with adult humans, he is nervous with children and needs a home without young kids. He prefers his personal space from other animals, so he would do best as the only dog or with respectful, laid back pets at home. Kayak is potty trained, crate trained, and takes to training quickly as long as theres a toy or yummy snack involved! If you have other animals in your home, we recommend bringing them in to do a meet and greet before taking Kayak home. If you are interested in meeting Kayak, please submit an adoption form on our website: fairfieldcountydogs.com and we will contact you to arrange a time to visit. Story
Chilli has never met a person she did not want to befriend. She loves people of all ages and is always excited to greet both familiar faces and new friends with a wagging nub of a tail and a happy attitude. Like any young dog, Chilli has plenty of energy and is always ready to play, especially if there is a toy involved. She enjoys spending time with people, lived successfully with another dog, and approaches life with an eager, joyful spirit. While she can be a little timid in unfamiliar places, she quickly gains confidence with patient guidance and reassurance. Chilli’s best fit: Chilli is looking for a family that is ready to help her learn what life as a beloved house dog is all about. Because she has never lived indoors, she is not yet house trained or crate trained, but with consistency, routine, and positive reinforcement, she has every opportunity to learn. She does well with children, has lived with another dog, and would benefit from a family that enjoys including their dog in everyday life. Chilli has not yet been tested with cats. If you are looking for a sweet, happy companion to grow alongside your family, Chilli is ready to begin her next chapter.

Story
Nugget is a happy young heeler with a whole world left to discover. He loves people, does wonderfully with children of all ages, and greets new friends with an eager, wagging tail. Like any young cattle dog mix, he has plenty of energy and is always ready to play or see what comes next. Life is still full of firsts for Nugget. He is just beginning to learn how to walk on a leash, has not had many opportunities to ride in a car or experience life beyond where he grew up, and is excited to discover everything the world has to offer. He previously lived with another dog and is expected to do well with canine companions, though he has not yet been tested with cats. Nugget's best fit: Nugget is looking for a family that is excited to help him experience all the things a young dog should. Because he has spent very little time living indoors, he is not yet house trained and is just beginning to learn the routines of family life. With patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement, he has every opportunity to grow into a wonderful companion. Like many heelers, Nugget will thrive in a home that provides both physical exercise and mental engagement. His future family should be ready to embrace all the fun, learning, and adventure that come with raising an active young dog.

Story
Kai has perfected the art of choosing her people. Earn her trust, and you will discover a goofy, vocal companion with plenty of personality. She loves car rides, enjoys a good scratch, and has never quite outgrown the playful streak that has kept everyone laughing over the years. Kai is not interested in making instant friends, and that is okay. She prefers to take her time getting to know new people and appreciates those who respect her space. Once you are part of her circle, she is affectionate, independent, and happy to simply enjoy life by your side.Kai's best fit:Kai is looking for an adopter who understands that trust is earned, not rushed. She needs someone who will advocate for her in public, keep unfamiliar people out of her space, and allow introductions to happen at her pace. If she feels pressured by a stranger, she may respond aggressively. Kai does well with other dogs following a successful meet and greet, but she should not live with young children. She is also a talented fence climber and should never be left outside unsupervised. For the right person, Kai is a loyal, entertaining companion whose trust is deeply rewarding to earn.

Story
Blue has plenty of puppy enthusiasm tucked inside a slightly cautious package. He can be a little unsure when meeting new people or exploring unfamiliar places, but his sweet, friendly personality shines through once he has a chance to settle in. He loves toys, happily chases a ball around the yard, and is always ready to join in on the fun, even if he is still learning that bringing the ball back is part of the game. Blue is house trained, crate trained, and travels wonderfully in the car. He is affectionate, playful, and looking for someone who will help him grow into the confident dog he is meant to be. Blue's best fit: Blue will thrive with a family that enjoys helping a young dog learn and build confidence. He gets along well with other dogs, has lived with a toddler, and has done well with cats, though he may occasionally give chase. He is still learning leash manners and will benefit from continued training, socialization, and plenty of opportunities to play. For someone willing to invest a little time and patience, Blue will make a loyal, loving companion.

Story
Red is still figuring out this whole "life" thing, but he is giving it his best shot. New people and unfamiliar places can make him a little timid at first, yet his friendly personality always wins out. Give him a few minutes, and he is ready to make a new friend. He is full of puppy energy and loves anything that involves toys, chasing a ball, or running around outside.Red is house trained, crate trained, and rides beautifully in the car. While he has not quite mastered the art of bringing the ball back, he is more than happy to chase it over and over again. He is eager to learn and simply needs someone willing to help him build confidence and continue discovering the world. Red's best fit:Red is looking for a family that understands young dogs need guidance, patience, and plenty of positive experiences. He gets along well with other dogs, though he can be a little timid and would benefit from continued socialization. He has lived with a young child, has done well with cats despite occasionally wanting to chase them, and is ready to continue working on leash manners. With a little encouragement, Red has all the makings of an incredible companion.
