Potty Trained Yes Ideal Home / Adopter Jersey is still learning to be a dog. She would love to have another dog that would help her out. She is very sweet, but timid. She is still afraid of the leash, she is working on it, but would need a house with a fenced in yard. She is very curious about cats, loves to smell them, but does not chase them. She takes time to warm up to people, but she does not jump on them. Likes She loves chicken, following around the other dog(s) in the house, sticking her face in the snow and running around in the snow. She also loves shoes..... Dislikes the CRATE! She eventually calms down, but does better being confined to a room (without shoes, unless you are okay with losing those shoes). She is still learning leash skills and building confidence, and takes about a day to warm up in new situations. Jersey is a sweet sweet dog. She takes about a day to warm up and then when she does she steals your heart. Jersey will be your best friend. She is still learning to trust, but once she does she just wants to be near you and her doggie friends. She is learning to play fetch and chase the other dogs. She loves the snow, but loves to crash on the couch just as much. She really wants to make her people happy. All fees include spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations, worming, flea and heartworm current. All dogs over 6 months of age have been tested and are heartworm negative. Information provided by shelter staff, volunteers, and veterinarians is used to give a best estimate as to a dog’s breed make up. We do our best to inform adopters about the potential breeds for each dog.We are a dog only facility so we do not know how most of our dogs will be with cats. Even if a dog is surrendered to us and said to be good with cats there is no way to be sure the dog will be good with your cats. We do have a 7 day foster-to-adopt program so that you can see how the dog interacts with your cats before adoption.

A year ago I was found in a box with no mom in sight and sent to a Texas shelter. Speak for the Unspoken broke me out of doggy jail and brought me to Ohio. My short young life had been extremely hard so when I arrived at my foster home I was terrified of everything and almost completely shut down. Over time and with lots of patience my foster family gained my trust and showed me that life isn’t so scary. My furry foster siblings also gave me confidence to be brave and explore.My foster Mom is extremely proud of all the progress I’ve made over the last year. She says I’m ready to find my forever family to keep building the confidence and trust I need to fulfill my full potential.So let me tell you all about me! Today I am a happy bouncy dog that LOVES to play. Toys are the best. I enjoy tugging on a rope, chasing balls, destroying any stuffy in site, oh…..and my new favorite trying to catch a frisbee. Being chased by my foster siblings with a toy in my mouth is always a bonus. Playing “keep away” is fun.After playing I enjoy curling up on a soft pillow or couch to rest. I also love sleeping next to someone in bed at night. That way I know I’m not alone.If you need an assistant in the kitchen I’m here to help. Picking up dropped food is my specialty . I especially like carrots and cheese. It’s a good way to build my trust.My forever family will need to have patience and an understanding that it will take time for me to trust. Another dog with my energy level in the home is best to help me navigate my new situation. Plus, I really don’t care for cats and am very focused on catching small animals. So a dog only home is required. New situations are still scary for me. So a fence is a must, to keep me safe.I promise if you have the time and patience I will show you the bouncy, happy, silly and loyal boy that I truly am. I am neutered and up to date on all my vaccinations. Meet RugerRuger is a 5-year-old male Blue Heeler/Collie mix weighing 56 pounds. He came to us as an owner surrender after his previous family experienced life changes that left him spending too much time alone. Now, he’s ready for a fresh start with a family who can give him the time and activity he deserves.With his striking black-and-white coat and tall frame, Ruger looks like an extra-leggy Collie. He’s great with kids and friendly with other dogs (as always, a meet and greet with resident canines is required). Compatibility with cats is currently unknown.Ruger has a high energy level and will thrive with an active family committed to daily walks, runs, and outdoor adventures. He absolutely loves being outside and enjoys playing with toys. Because of his energy and exercise needs, he is not suited for apartment or townhouse living. A home with a fenced-in yard is preferred.He is both housetrained and crate trained — in fact, he’ll head right to his crate when you say “cage.” Ruger also knows “sit,” “lay down,” and “paw.” While he can be a bit timid when first meeting new people, he warms up with patience and kindness. At the shelter, he’s been a wonderful guest and keeps his kennel nice and clean.Ruger is available through our foster-to-adopt program, which includes vaccinations, microchipping, and heartworm testing.
