Story
Mac is the kind of dog who brings a sense of adventure into your life. He’s curious, smart, and independent—always exploring, always discovering, and always ready for whatever the day holds. Mac spends his days exploring the woods, checking out the ponds, and just enjoying being a dog. He loves water, loves movement, and has that natural confidence that makes life with him feel fun and engaging. He’s affectionate and friendly, but not needy—he’s happy to be part of your world while still doing his own thing. That balance makes him both enjoyable and easy to live with. He’s expected to grow into a larger dog and will thrive in a home that enjoys the outdoors or wants a companion for daily activity and exploration. Good fit: someone who wants a smart, adventurous dog to share life with—walks, hikes, exploring, and everyday experiences Adoption process: All adoptions are completed prior to transport. Dogs are picked up at designated transport locations. If an adoption doesn’t work out (rare, but life happens), we always take our dogs back. Location: Oklahoma (available to approved out-of-state adopters via transport) Health: Fully vetted (neutered/spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested) Adoption fee: $550 (includes transport + vetting) Bonus: Each adoption includes a 30-minute phone consultation with a professional trainer Transport routes: WA, OR, ID, MT, UT, WY, CO, MN, WI, IA, IL, IN, OH, PA, MD, NY, NJ, VT Think you might be a good fit? Story
Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DxQD-9Bt1kw John Connor has been with the rescue since last summer since he and his mom were dumped in the country. He is about 18 months old now and I don't understand why he hasn't been adopted. He is adorable, he only weighs about 40 lbs, he is great with other dogs, people, and cats. Perfect little dude. He loves to run and play and splish splash in the water. He would make a great companion for an active individual or a family that enjoys outdoor adventures or spending lots of time in the backyard. He is currently still in Oklahoma where he was rescued but he can only be adopted out of state where people treat animals well. He has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport at one of our transport drop off locations below. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, we will either find a local foster to take him in or he will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found. Note: No dogs are advertised as potty-trained because most dogs need at least some re-training in a new environment and after being in a shelter/rescue environment/strays. www.facebook.com/desideratarescue (copy and paste into a new browser window) Transport locations: - Washington State (Kennewick, Spokane, Tumwater, Tacoma, Tukwila, Lynnwood/Edmonds, Bellingham) - Oregon (Portland and Springfield) - Colorado (Ft Lupton) - Idaho (Heyburn and Boise/Meridian) - Utah (Ogden) - Wyoming (Evanston, Rock Springs, Laramie) - Montana (Missoula) - Illinois (Vandalia, Springfield, Chicago) - Indiana (Spiceland, Burn Harbor) - Michigan (St Joseph, Battle Creek, Ann Arbor) - Wisconsin (Madison, Wausau, Eau Claire, Appleton, Milwaukee) - Minnesota (Minneapolis/St Paul) - Iowa (Des Moines) - Ohio (Columbus and London) - Pennsylvania (Erie, Pittsburgh and Harrisburg) - New York (Buffalo and Albany) - Connecticut (Enfield) - New Jersey (Bedminster) - Nevada (Las Vegas) - Arizona (Flagstaff) -- Vermont (Brattleboro) Vetting: neutered, microchipped, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, dhpp vaccine x 3, lepto vaccine x 2, dewormed several times, on monthly flea and tick prevention, on monthly heartworm protection, heartworm tested (negative). Adoption fee: $550 (includes the $250 cost of transport from Oklahoma and all vetting listed above) Adoption application (copy and paste into a new browser window): https://form.jotform.com/82677586784176 FAQs (copy and paste into a new browser window): https://docs.google.com/document/d/12eb_SRtk1AzaBl87UltcLJ24MjH9UhQm_LE77iWZEQA/edit?tab=t.0 Desiderata Rescue is Oklahoma Licensed Rescue #95

Story
Chayni came to my partner as a 3 month old puppy. Her birthday is in November and she will turn 11 this year. She has always lives in a house with other dogs but as she has gotten older, she doesnt tolerate them as well. She is incredibly intelligent, stubborn, active, and can be very loyal. Chayni does not like cats and sees them as prey. Unfortunately, my partner died very unexpectedly and I have had to into a much smaller place, with a smaller yard, and several cats. I have a strong bond with Chayni and she is very much loved but needs to be in a less crowded, triggering space. Chayni is, overall, in good health although her back hips bother her from time to time.

Story
Meet Kat! 🐶 She is the sister of Kit, who was adopted last month. She is our sweet Blue Heeler mix, with a heart full of sunshine and zoomies! Kat was born around September 20, 2025, and she’s everything you’d expect from a happy, well‑socialized puppy. She adores people, loves other animals, and approaches the world with pure enthusiasm. If it moves, she wants to play with it! As a young herding‑breed mix, Kat is bright, energetic, and eager to learn. She’ll thrive in a home that’s ready to invest time in training, structure, and basic obedience. Kat has plenty of puppy energy to burn, so a secure, fenced‑in yard where she can run, explore, and practice her zoomies is a must. With the right guidance and consistency, she’s going to grow into an incredible companion! Adoption fee: $450
