Story
My name is Fancy . I am estimated to be 2 years old. I am a very sweet girl, but I have a very quirky personality. I am very good in the house ; I am crate trained and have used a doggie door. I love jumping right in the car and going for rides ! I walk on a leash every day currently. When I first meet people, I am very cautious, and act scared. I defiantly bond very fast to women. Young kids scare me, and I tend to go hide in my safe place , my crate. Once I feel comfy around you , I act just like every other dog. I love to give kisses , play with my toys and go for walks on the leash. I love fresh carrots for a treat or a big rawhide to chew on. I have lived with several dogs before and enjoy their company. All my vet work is done, and I am microchipped. My adoption fee covers transport from Tennessee. I can be a very good loyal companion in the right setting. I don’t necessarily need a fenced in yard if you walk me on a leash every day. My adoption fee covers a health certificate and transportation from Tennessee. I am spayed , microchipped and up to date on vaccinations

Story
June was wandering around as a stray for several days. No one knew where she came from. One day someone was able to get her and bring her into us. She is such a loving girl and listens very well. She doesn't seem to like the other dogs much yet. We are guessing her as a cattle dog/lab mix but we aren't sure. She is around 4 years old. June is now spayed and up to date. Housetrained. Adoption fee is $150

Story
Zannah is a beautiful 2-year old female Australian Cattle Dog (Blue Heeler/Red Heeler mix) who was surrendered by her family on August 14, 2025 (her background story is included with her Petfinder biography). Zannah has a uniquely-marked white short smooth coat with blue-and red-ticking, a long tail, and an adorable face with expressive brown eyes, a narrow/slender muzzle, and large semi-erect ears. This lovely girl has the sweetest smile, and she always seemed to be smiling in her photos. Zannah is a fairly large dog who weighed 68 lbs when she entered our shelter on August 14th. We had taken preliminary photos of Zannah in her large floor crate and were anxious to take more flattering photos .. Our first opportunity was on August 19th when Zannah was enjoying some out-of-crate time in a shaded outdoor kennel, so we saw our chance and started snapping as many pictures as possible (smile). Zannah was the perfect model and demonstrated how she could 'sit pretty' and remain calm. Zannah's background story is rather sad since her original owner had become physically able to take care of her .. And another close family member offered Zannah a really good home. Things went well until Zannah saw the other dog in her new family's home giving kisses/licking a child. Zannah apparently thought that she needed to protect the child and decided to take action .. which resulted in the other dog being injured. The family's dog survived the incident, but they felt Zannah needed to find another home. Zannah was spayed on October 2, 2025 and was also given rabies vaccine. Update: Zannah went home with a foster family on October 23, 2025 so that she could enjoy a real home environment instead of a shelter kennel .. Zannah is still available for adoption. If you would like to meet Zannah in person, please complete an HSOV adoption application so that we may arrange a meet-and-greet with her foster family. Zannah was returned to our shelter on October 31st because she was nipping at the foster family's dog ..

Story
Piglet (affectionately known as Piggie) is a handsome 8-year old male Pit Bull Terrier/Red Heeler mix who came to the HSOV during the overnight/early morning hours on January 26, 2024 when he was placed in one of our outside kennels near the front door of our shelter. Piglet was wearing a collar but, unfortunately, there was neither an id tag nor a dog tag on his collar ... And he was not microchipped. No information was left with Piglet, so we don't know if someone found him as a stray or whether his owner left him with us for some unknown reason. Piglet has a white short smooth coat with beautiful red/brown ticking and a large brown patch on his right side, a long tail, and an adorable symmetrically-marked face with amber-colored eyes, a liver-colored nose, and large floppy ears. Piglet might possibly have some Pointer ancestors in his family tree since at first glance he appears to have physical traits of that breed .. But he never went 'on point' when HSOV Kennel Tech Bradyn Morris helped him with this photo session on the afternoon of February 3, 2024. Piggie was full of energy and ready for 'fun-and-games' or an extra-long walk instead of posing for boring still-life pictures, but he humored us with a few great poses. Piglet weighs 64.2 lbs and is strong on the other end of a leash. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Piglet was held for three days so that his family would have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership. Sadly, nobody called or came looking for this magnificent boy. We've learned that Piglet was actually left in the outside kennel by his family :( .. And his real name is Brutus. An individual who was a friend of the family provided information about Brutus. He is NOT good with children (especially when food is involved), and he is NOT good with cats since he will cause mortal harm to them. Piglet aka Brutus is tolerant of other dogs. He does best with those who tend to leave him alone and aren't 'in his face'. We had listed Piglet's age as being 2-3 years old when he was first posted. We learned later that he was older than we originally believed and was likely 8-years old when he was left at our shelter. Piglet would love to find a fabulous home with someone special (possibly as an ‘only child’). He will be neutered before an adoption is finalized but could be fostered while he is awaiting that procedure.

Story
Pippa recently came back with Morgan - both dogs adopted through us in separate years - after their owner passed away. We want to make note that Pippa left here in 2023 a very healthy 40ish lbs, and now weighs mid 70s. Almost doubled her weight! We will be having her checked for Cushing's disease etc to see if this is why she is so big, but no owner should have let her get this big whether it be from diet or a veterinary diagnosis. Overweight dogs, and even more so those considered obese, face a multitude of health risks, including osteoarthritis, diabetes, respiratory issues, and a decreased lifespan. We can already see the joint pain and bending of her ankles from the excess weight. So we have started her on weight management food, supplementing with green beans, and pain meds. If you happen to have any green beans sitting in your pantry you won't eat, drop them by! They are useful in making her feel full but low calories. She is available for adoption, but we will remain in close contact to make sure a diet protocol is followed to help get her healthy again. She is around 5/6 years old. She came to us in 2022 with her litter of pups and was always such a wonderful girl. She is a heeler /hound mix. Up to date on vaccines/dewormer/spayed, 4dx tested, and microchipped.
