Story
Momma Donna is a Kelpie/Heeler mix girl that gave birth 3 months ago to 8 beautiful, wonderful Heeler puppies. This girl is 2 years old and only 42 pounds.  She is amazingly smart and seems to know exactly what you are saying to her.  We think that Momma Donna would be a perfect addition to a home with children who want to play and teach a dog some good tricks and manners.  She is willing to learn anything. Momma Donna is nicely housebroken and ready for a totally great and new life.  Momma Donna just needs a place to belong.   So, do you have a front porch and a hole in your heart ready to be filled by a loving and devoted dog who wants to walk down the road with you every day?   Please email us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com if you are interested in Momma Donna.  PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.April 28, 2024, 4:57 pm

Story
Meet Carla--Smart and Beautiful! Hi! My name is Carla. I am one and a half years old. I am believed to be an Australian Kelpie or maybe an Australian Shepherd mix. Mainly, I am mixed with love! I am a very happy, energetic, loyal, alert, eager and extremely intelligent young girl with puppy like tendencies. Due to my breed, I am capable of untiring work and endless energy if so desired. I would fit in best with an active lifestyle that includes lots of opportunities to exercise in a large fenced-in yard where I can zip around and show off my athleticism. I can run really fast. My foster mom says I'm like a bullet when I'm running at top speed! Kelpies and Australian Shepherds prefer to have a job to do as they were created to herd sheep and cattle. I will need stimulation and small tasks to keep my mind active and my energy in check. A good job or a workout combined with the mental exercise of obedience lessons would help me be my best version of myself. The mental exercise that the training provides would be a great way to keep me happy and involved. Training me for agility, obedience and rally are some great ways to give me some exercise. Although I sound like a lot of work, I can be chill as well so don't be scared off! I would be an excellent choice for adults and/or families with older (teenage) children that love to play and keep me entertained. While I love being super energetic, I also have an "off" switch too. I'm super happy if you take me out for a run, but I will be just as happy to settle down and snuggle on the couch afterwards to watch a movie. I enjoy being walked twice a day to sniff the neighborhood and do my business. I currently know how to sit and leave it. My foster mom is teaching me some additional words and some other useful commands as well. I learn really fast!! When you meet me you will notice that I have a great smile, love being petted, enjoy fetching and chewing on tennis balls, playing tug with my rope toy, and getting belly rubs. Scratches behind my ears make me very happy as well. I apologize upfront as I can be a bit bossy with other dogs...sorry...kind of a breed characteristic, so I would prefer to be an only dog and cats make my "chase" button turn on, so best to avoid those as well. But don't worry, I can certainly fill up your home with lots of fur baby fun! If you would like to open your heart and your home to me, please email STORKWOODS@COMCAST.NET directly. This is the BEST way to get an application. We have foster homes in several areas of the country. We do have transport available.

These pups are in Boston, Massachusetts too!

Adoptable in: MA, RI, NH, CT, and VTGood with dogs: Yes, with proper introsGood with cats: UnknownGood with kids: Yes, 13+Crate trained: YesHouse trained: YesGrizzly James is a really good boy who loves to snuggle and hang out with his humans. In fact, he thinks he is a lapdog despite his size!Grizzly James has yet to meet a toy he doesn’t like, but he is an expert at surgically deconstructing stuffed toys, so he is better suited for tougher toys like bones, Kongs, rubber rings, etc. When he is not entertaining himself with toys he likes to make very silly noises to get your attention and remind you that he is nearby in case you have the sudden urge to give him belly rubs.Grizzly James is extremely smart and considers himself to be a mischievous mastermind. His fosters have noted he sometimes buries his food bowl under his blanket to try and fool his humans into thinking he hasn’t received dinner yet and should be fed again. He is a lovable goofball and is looking for someone that will enjoy his antics!Grizzly James is crate trained and house trained. He also knows ‘sit’, ‘stay’, and is currently working on mastering ‘down’. He loves car rides and will try to rest his snoot on your shoulder despite being in the backseat and buckled into his car harness.Grizzly James has shown lots of improvement when walking on a leash over the last few months. He is not a ‘puller’, but will try to chase after cars (or those pesky squirrels) from time to time and uses all his body weight to lunge into the move. He is deceptively strong for such a compact fellow, so a firm hand on the leash is a must when waddling him about town. His current foster walks him on a transitional lead and has found this to be a key to success when walking him on a leash.Grizzly James is so excited to find his forever family! Please Note: All dogs currently available for adoption are posted on our website. If you cannot find a particular dog on our website, he/she may be on a temporary foster hold. All dogs are otherwise posted until they are officially adopted. She is a curious and shy pup who is learning to break out of her shell each day. Inez’s ideal home would include an active, patient family who is committed to continuing her training and helping her build her confidence.Inez gets along well with dogs and may need some extra space and time to get to know them. She is learning her manners and taking cues from others. Once she makes friends, Inez loves to play with other dogs and would thrive in a mentally-stimulating environment or agility classes. Inez would do just fine with cats and dog-savvy children in the home. She is crate trained and housetrained. Inez goes into the crate with no issue and sleeps in their overnight without a peep.
