Adoptable in: MA, RI, NH, CT, and VTGood with dogs: Yes, with proper introsGood with cats: UnknownGood with kids: Yes, 13+Crate trained: YesHouse trained: YesGrizzly James is a really good boy who loves to snuggle and hang out with his humans. In fact, he thinks he is a lapdog despite his size!Grizzly James has yet to meet a toy he doesn’t like, but he is an expert at surgically deconstructing stuffed toys, so he is better suited for tougher toys like bones, Kongs, rubber rings, etc. When he is not entertaining himself with toys he likes to make very silly noises to get your attention and remind you that he is nearby in case you have the sudden urge to give him belly rubs.Grizzly James is extremely smart and considers himself to be a mischievous mastermind. His fosters have noted he sometimes buries his food bowl under his blanket to try and fool his humans into thinking he hasn’t received dinner yet and should be fed again. He is a lovable goofball and is looking for someone that will enjoy his antics!Grizzly James is crate trained and house trained. He also knows ‘sit’, ‘stay’, and is currently working on mastering ‘down’. He loves car rides and will try to rest his snoot on your shoulder despite being in the backseat and buckled into his car harness.Grizzly James has shown lots of improvement when walking on a leash over the last few months. He is not a ‘puller’, but will try to chase after cars (or those pesky squirrels) from time to time and uses all his body weight to lunge into the move. He is deceptively strong for such a compact fellow, so a firm hand on the leash is a must when waddling him about town. His current foster walks him on a transitional lead and has found this to be a key to success when walking him on a leash.Grizzly James is so excited to find his forever family! Please Note: All dogs currently available for adoption are posted on our website. If you cannot find a particular dog on our website, he/she may be on a temporary foster hold. All dogs are otherwise posted until they are officially adopted. This dog may have other interested adopters in line. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application.July 13, 2024, 2:01 am

She is a curious and shy pup who is learning to break out of her shell each day. Inez’s ideal home would include an active, patient family who is committed to continuing her training and helping her build her confidence.Inez gets along well with dogs and may need some extra space and time to get to know them. She is learning her manners and taking cues from others. Once she makes friends, Inez loves to play with other dogs and would thrive in a mentally-stimulating environment or agility classes. Inez would do just fine with cats and dog-savvy children in the home. She is crate trained and housetrained. Inez goes into the crate with no issue and sleeps in their overnight without a peep. She has worked really hard on her potty training and is accident-free on a regular routine and schedule. MEET ELLIOTT!Elliott (or ET) is a lovable goofball who loves to run! He’s previously lived with young children and gets along well with everyone he meets. He loves playing with other dogs and is overall such a social butterfly! Because of his love for activity, he prefers a home that has either a fenced yard or somewhere with lots of park access. He working to become a polite guy and learns really fast - sometimes too fast so when we are slow to recognize his obedient behavior he will give us a nudge for a head pat or a snack reward! He is quite frustrated here in the shelter and it is coming out in the form of mouthy behavior. We have been taking advantage of his time here by having him meet and play with lots of dogs and teaching him all the basic foundational skills so he can go to your home as a perfect gentleman! Could you be the human companion he is yearning for? Elliott is currently up to date on all vaccinations, has been neutered, microchipped and been seen by our vet team. For more information on Elliott or any other animal currently residing at the Animal Rescue League of Boston, please call us at 617-426-9170. We welcome adopters from NH, RI, CT, and NY. However, we will be unable to facilitate same day adoptions due to state regulated paperwork requirements. Story
Hi, I'm Puddles and I'm a three year old spayed female Heeler mix. I'm a sweet girl, and I was given this name as a puppy, Many of us lose our homes due to human error, poor planning, moves, etc. My owner was a young man who took a job working on the oil field and was gone long hours, so couldn't keep me. I hope you don't hold it against me. I won't disappoint you. I need an adopter who will make a life-long commitment. Please apply at https://www.saveadog.org/applytoadopt.asp and someone will get right back to you with the next steps. Available after 7/16/24.
