Story
Adoptable in: MA, RI, NH, CT, and VTGood with dogs: Yes, with proper introsGood with cats: UnknownGood with kids: Yes, 13+Crate trained: YesHouse trained: YesGrizzly James is a really good boy who loves to snuggle and hang out with his humans. In fact, he thinks he is a lapdog despite his size!Grizzly James has yet to meet a toy he doesn’t like, but he is an expert at surgically deconstructing stuffed toys, so he is better suited for tougher toys like bones, Kongs, rubber rings, etc. When he is not entertaining himself with toys he likes to make very silly noises to get your attention and remind you that he is nearby in case you have the sudden urge to give him belly rubs.Grizzly James is extremely smart and considers himself to be a mischievous mastermind. His fosters have noted he sometimes buries his food bowl under his blanket to try and fool his humans into thinking he hasn’t received dinner yet and should be fed again. He is a lovable goofball and is looking for someone that will enjoy his antics!Grizzly James is crate trained and house trained. He also knows ‘sit’, ‘stay’, and is currently working on mastering ‘down’. He loves car rides and will try to rest his snoot on your shoulder despite being in the backseat and buckled into his car harness.Grizzly James has shown lots of improvement when walking on a leash over the last few months. He is not a ‘puller’, but will try to chase after cars (or those pesky squirrels) from time to time and uses all his body weight to lunge into the move. He is deceptively strong for such a compact fellow, so a firm hand on the leash is a must when waddling him about town. His current foster walks him on a transitional lead and has found this to be a key to success when walking him on a leash.Grizzly James is so excited to find his forever family! Please Note: All dogs currently available for adoption are posted on our website. If you cannot find a particular dog on our website, he/she may be on a temporary foster hold. All dogs are otherwise posted until they are officially adopted. She is a curious and shy pup who is learning to break out of her shell each day. Inez’s ideal home would include an active, patient family who is committed to continuing her training and helping her build her confidence.Inez gets along well with dogs and may need some extra space and time to get to know them. She is learning her manners and taking cues from others. Once she makes friends, Inez loves to play with other dogs and would thrive in a mentally-stimulating environment or agility classes. Inez would do just fine with cats and dog-savvy children in the home. She is crate trained and housetrained. Inez goes into the crate with no issue and sleeps in their overnight without a peep. She has worked really hard on her potty training and is accident-free on a regular routine and schedule. Story
Bella Banana1 Year Old Cattle Dog*Medical Needs*Bella Banana Maureen is a sweet and silly pup looking for a special home! This little lady came to us after she swallowed a toy and needed to have surgery to remove it and she is also being treated for heartworm. She is a smart, active young dog so it will be important to keep her mind working while she continues her activity restriction. Bella Banana loves to snuggly and gets very excited meeting new people. She has done well with other dogs and could likely live with a friend as long as they can be separated during the rest of her heartworm treatment. Once she recovers she will be a super fun pup to be an active companion and do lots of fun training with! If you think this dog could be a good match for your home and would like to learn more, stop by our Boston Adoption Center. We have open adoption hours Tuesday-Sunday from 12pm-3pm – no appointment needed to speak to a staff person regarding available dogs. Preparing your home for your new dog or puppy ahead of time can help ease the transition for your new pet and set you both up for success should there be a dog that’s a good match! To learn more about how to make the first few weeks with your new dog or puppy the most successful it can be, please visit www.mspca.org/petresources. For more information on our adoption process, please visit https://www.mspca.org/adoption-centers/how-to-adopt/ Please note, in an effort to keep the stress levels reduced for the dogs in our care, our dog kennel areas will not be open to walk through. Interested adopters will work with a matchmaker on staff to determine which dog(s) they’re interested in - and if we can identify a match, potential adopters will be able to meet those dogs outside of the kennel. Cat and small animal areas will remain open to walk through.

MEET BLU!This handsome guy is a sweet and very, very smart 2 year old, male, Australian Cattle Dog. Blu`s new family should include the following:- the ability to provide Blu with physical exercise and mental stimulation to help him thrive,- knowledge of or experience with working type dogs- no cats-A home with teens and adults onlyBlu arrived on our doorstep as a stray, but we have gathered very valuable information about how he does in a home from time he spent in foster. He is extremely intellegent and food motivated, and picks up new skills before you even put them down! He loves to hang out outdoors and would make an excellent hiking or running partner to encourage his owner to get outside. He would even love to participate in a competitive dog sport like agility! He is friendly with other dogs, but does best with young active dogs who have a similar play style to him. His fosters have done a great job with crate training him and teaching him to walk respectfully on a leash!Blu is currently up to date on all vaccinations, has been neutered, microchipped and been seen by our vet team. For more information on Blu or any other animal currently residing at the Animal Rescue League of Boston, please call us at 617-426-9170. We welcome adopters from NH, RI, CT, and NY. However, we will be unable to facilitate same day adoptions due to state regulated paperwork requirements. Story
Laid back? CHECK! Loves to travel? CHECK! Low Maintenance? CHECK! This sweet girl is ready for her new chapter begin. This is Coco, a Shar-pei mix with a lot of love to give. Coco is 9 years old, spayed, house-trained, and a real people lover. Coco came from a veterinarian's office in PA who reached out to rescue when her people could no longer care for her. She is quiet and lo maintenance and happy to follow her people around the house, go for car rides, and walks around the neighborhood. Coco loves toys and treats, but she has to watch her treat intake to keep her girlish figure. As with many dogs of the Shar-pei breed, Coco has some skin issues that required a lot of time to diagnose. She lost a lot of hair and had red, itchy skin for several months. All of that has cleared up now that we discovered she has an allergy to beef. Since her dietary change her fur has filled in and she is looking much happier and healthier. Coco is also dog selective. She can tend to be bossy with other dogs and not like her personal space invaded - don't we all? She will do best in a home with dogs her size - 25lb and up - and who are not much interested in dog to dog interaction. She just likes to do her own thing and quietly coexist with her doggy siblings. If Coco sounds like a good fit for you, please complete an adoption application to have her join your family! Coco is fostered in Smithfield, VA.

Age: 2-3 yearsSex: femaleWeight: 45 lbsBreed: Red heeler mix Mabel is quite the treat!!! She is full of energy, has a HUGE personality and so much love to give. She absolutely loves toys and anything she can play with. She’s very self entertaining as well. She does need guidance with jumping as she gets so excited with human interaction. She is probably one of the sweetest gals we have and will make an amazing companion. She is dog selective, does not seem to mind cats when tested through a kennel and enjoys children. She needs an active family and we do believe she’ll do best as an only child. Her history is unknown and was a surrender to the shelter quite some time ago . ##1671181##
