Story
Bella 🐾 Meet Bella! 🐾 Bella is a 5–6 month old pup with a heart full of love and a personality that’s equal parts playful and cuddly. 💕 ✨ Fun Facts About Bella: 1. Potty trained — no accidents since day one! 🚽👏 2. The biggest cuddle bug 🛋️ 3. Loves car rides (as long as she can touch you) 🚗❤️ 4. Super playful, floppy, and full of puppy energy 🎾 5. Smart girl who already knows “sit” 🐾 Bella’s favorite things? Sunbathing after potty breaks 🌞, flopping down leash and all, and “talking” at her reflection with the cutest little howl-growl combo. 🐶 She’s had a tough start to life and can be timid with men and kids, but she is never aggressive. She does great hanging out in a bathroom with her bed and toys, but a crate makes her very anxious. She’s working hard on puppy manners like “sit before pets” and “sit before food,” and she takes direction well. Bella is both a couch potato and a playmate — she loves walks, playtime, and then snuggling close. She just wants to be loved, reassured, and never left behind again. 💙 🏡 Ideal Home: Bella would thrive in a home where she can be the center of attention and get plenty of affection, exercise, and continued training. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who’ll make you laugh, keep you company, and love you endlessly, Bella is your girl. 🥰 If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at https://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/forms PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN RHODE ISLAND AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED. Story
Meet Hazel 💕 Hazel is the total package—sweet as can be, affectionate, and ready to be your loyal sidekick. With her warm amber eyes and soft chocolate coat, she’ll steal your heart in seconds… and then happily curl up in your lap to keep it. This cuddle queen loves being close to her people. Whether it’s movie night on the couch or a quiet morning with coffee, Hazel is happiest when she’s snuggled up beside you. She also enjoys getting out for walks and does wonderfully exploring the neighborhood with her foster sister. She’d likely thrive in a home with another friendly dog to show her the ropes—or be perfectly content soaking up all the attention as your one and only. The best part? Hazel is already crate trained and house trained, so she’s ready to settle into her forever home with ease. If you’re looking for a gentle, loving companion who will adore you endlessly and happily join you for both adventures and downtime, Hazel is your girl. 🐾💕 If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at https://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/forms PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN RHODE ISLAND AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED. Meet Mikasa 💛 If you’re looking for a dog who greets every day (and every person!) like it’s the best thing ever, Mikasa may just be your girl. At just over 30 lbs, this adorable young pup has the cutest little underbite that gives her a permanent smile — and honestly, it fits her personality perfectly. Mikasa is the kind of dog who brings the fun wherever she goes. Silly, social, and always ready to be part of the action, she absolutely loves people and lights up around her friends. She especially loves going on walks, and enjoys getting out on field trips — she’s just as happy adventuring and exploring as she is curling up in your lap for pets. Mikasa has done great with other dogs, whether on walks, during playdates, or just hanging out, and would love a playful canine buddy to romp around with. Like any young pup, Mikasa is still learning about the world and would love a family excited to continue training and growing alongside her. She’s smart, very food motivated, already knows “sit,” walks nicely on leash, and is eager to keep learning with positive reinforcement and fun adventures by your side. With her goofy charm, contagious happiness, and signature smile, Mikasa is ready to fill a lucky home so much love 💛

Story
Drake is a truly special dog and a rare find in rescue. He combines intelligence, loyalty, and a gentle nature into one handsome package. This boy was found as a stray with a momma dog and her puppies (maybe he was the daddee?)Drake is an affectionate, easygoing boy who is happiest when he’s close to his people. A true "velcro dog," he loves being indoors and will gladly follow his favorite humans from room to room, always wanting to be part of the family. He is very sweet and gentle with the older children in his foster home, though he can become a bit overwhelmed in loud or chaotic environments.Drake also gets along well with other dogs. While he has never lived with a cat, he does not appear to have a strong prey drive and was completely unbothered by the clinic cats during a week-long stay at a veterinary boarding facility. While he forms deep bonds with those he trusts, Drake can be cautious in new situations and may become overly submissive when frightened. Because of his sensitive nature, Drake will need a patient, understanding home that will allow him to build confidence at his own pace.Drake truly thrives with positive reinforcement training and will do best with adopters who appreciate the needs of a highly intelligent breed and can provide both mental and physical enrichment to keep him engaged. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will be your shadow, your best friend, and your biggest fan, Drake may be the perfect match. With a little patience and a lot of love, this beautiful boy will reward his family with unwavering devotion.Name: DrakeBreed: Australian Kelpie/Crossbreed   (Breed mix is not guaranteed-no DNA testing done).Sex: MaleAge: 2 years  (estimated)Weight: 50.0Spayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Positive on recent testing. Story
Heather is just under two years old. She was rescued in Louisiana and treated for heart worms. She is negative and healthy, great with dogs, plays in play group. She lived in the director's house and is house trained. She will wait at the door. She's very calm and chill. We're guessing on her breeds. She's a really nice dog who has been in rescue for awhile due to no fault of her own. She does zoomies outside in the yard and then is calm inside. She stays off the furniture. She is not destructive. She likes belly rubs but is not real needy. She's just a happy girl. Please apply at https://www.saveadog.org/applytoadopt.asp, and we will get right back to you.
