Story
Meet Tairn! This little boy is so much fun!! He’s 7 months old and weighs 35 pounds. A Kelpie mix, maybe with some Husky. He’s looking for an active family that will help him achieve his bucket list that is full of adventures. He was slotted to be a service dog but sadly his owner is too advanced in her illness to carry on the dream, so we took him in for her. He's smart and eager to have a job. He loves everyone and every dog he's met. He has lived with a cat too and did great. He loves kids but is still a mouthy pup working on his manners, so maybe 7 and older would be ideal for now. He would not thrive in a couch potato type house. A fenced yard is a must. He's 95% housebroken now and gladly goes into his crate. He’s great in the car and on a leash. If you're adventurous and looking for a loyal sidekick, Tarin is your dream come true!  He’s fully vetted, neutered, microchipped, and ready for his happy ever after. His adoption donation is $415. Please apply directly in the dropdown menu on our website at https://havenanimalrescuenebraska.org PLEASE SUBMIT AN APPLICATION AT: https://havenanimalrescuenebraska.org/adoption-application We do not have a facility. All of our animals are in volunteer foster homes. Once an application is pre-approved (contingent upon a home check) we will contact applicants that are a good match and set up a time for a meet. At that time we are happy to answer all of your questions. No inquiries prior to that please. All of our animals are spayed/neutered, examined by a vet, up-to-date on vaccinations, on heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchipped. We adopt our animals as strictly inside companion pets. We will do a veterinarian reference check and a home safety check. We are located in Omaha, NE and we do not ship our animals. We are all volunteers so please be patient with us. Our requested adoption fees help go towards medical expenses, food, transportation, toys, and other supplies for our animals. We are a state licensed, 501c3 nonprofit rescue and the adoption donation may be tax deductible for you.  Thank you for choosing adoption!! December 5, 2025, 12:55 pm

Story
Fostered in Council Bluffs Name- Nutmeg Age- 7 months Breed- Kelpie mix What was your life like before NDCB/Where did you come from? I was found as a stray in South Sioux City. The animal shelter called the sweet people at the Rescue and asked them to take me so I wouldn’t be euthanized. Who is your main caretaker/favorite person now? Foster mom and dad. Are you good with kids? What age ranges?my foster home had a two year old. Kids are fun as long as they play with me! I am a high energy breed so tiny tots might be a little overwhelmed by my enthusiastic greetings but I never mean any harm. Are you good with other dogs? Be VERY specific here I’m great I love to play. Sometimes I get a little rough and need to be told to chill so I would probably be a little too much for senior dogs. But playful dogs…I am ALL IN!!! Are you good with cats? Well., I am a herding/farm breed so cats are REAL fun to chase. I probably shouldn’t be in a home with cats unless you are super dog savvy and can train me to leave them alone. As it stands, I will absolutely chase a furry kitty in the home and I might attempt to get the squeaker out 😬😬 Are you housebroken? I am doing so well in Foster! I have only had one accident inside the home and now my foster siblings have showed me to ring bells when I wanna go outside. It’s pretty cool! What is your current potty routine? I ring bells at my foster home to go outside! Do you like car rides? Yes! I love to ride! I hop right in any car however I should be seatbelted in because sometimes I try and sit in your lap while you’re driving. How was I supposed to know Mom was gonna freak out about that🤷🏻‍♀️ I just wanted to cuddle, her screaming was really unnecessary. Do you like walks? How are you on a leash? What’s a leash? I’m still trying to learn. Do you like toys? What is your favorite toy? Squeaky toys are the very best! But I also like hooves Do you know any commands/tricks? Not yet but will you teach me? I’m super smart and eager to learn. How are your house manners? I’m a bit of a bull in a china shop. I bounce and run and play but I also snuggle. Describe your personality- as I just said I Am a lot. But with some training and love I would be perfect Describe your perfect home-I definitely need a fur sibling who can match my energy. I love to play and love all dogs. I would love a home with an active family member. I would be a great running partner or hiking buddy! I currently sleep in bed with my foster parents and would love to continue that. I’m not a bed hog. I go right to the bottom of the bed and go to sleep.

Story
Danni is a 4 year old Cattle dog mix who is training to play ball for the major leagues one day! Her preferred pawrent would throw a ball for her all day long.  Her foster dad is encouraging her to expand her horizons and she is now enjoying long walks, squeeky toys, butt scratches, belly rubs and cuddles on the couch and bed.  She has mastered basic commands like "sit" and will now "wait" before eating her meal or exiting.  They are working on "paw", "lay" and "stay".  She appears to be potty trained and has not had any accidents in her foster home.  Danni had some past resource guarding tendencies so she should not go to a home with smaller kids.  She does tend to startle with loud noises and requires reassurance to settle down and relax in the car.  She does not seem to like other dogs but if her foster dad has her engaged in a game of fetch she is able to ignore the neighbor's dog barking at her. While Danni may be a bit anxious at first, she connects deeply with humans who show her compassion, patience, attention and have a good arm! Apply to meet Danni and she may do her spin excited dance for you! The adoption fee is $350** and covers age appropriate vaccines, a microchip, and a spay/neuter. The adoption fee helps cover the cost of these vetting procedures. If you want to meet this pet, or are interested in adopting, please submit an application.  **Part of Danni's adoption fee is sponsored by someone who loves her very much! Her adoption fee is now $100** We're open from 12-4 PM every day EXCEPT Wednesday! Did you know you don't need to have an appointment to visit our available cats and dogs***? Simply drop by and if you find a potential new furry friend, you can fill out an application on the day you visit. Go to townandcountryanimalrescue.org to fill out our digital application. Story
Meet Jake, a gentle soul. At 10 years young, Jake is a sweet, soulful heeler mix who proves that age is just a number. This 62-pound gentleman has so much love left to give and he’s ready to share it with a forever family who’ll cherish him. Jake came to us after some pack conflicts in his previous home, but he’s shown amazing growth in his foster care. With slow introductions and respectful dog friends, he’s learned to build new bonds, even becoming best buds with his foster dog siblings!  He’s a total people-lover, gentle, affectionate, and happiest when he’s near his humans. Jake enjoys easy walks, cozy couch time, and even joins his foster family for 2-mile jogs every day (yes, he’s still got plenty of pep in his step!). Jake is the full package: loyal, calm, loving, and still full of life. If you’re searching for a devoted walking partner and snuggle buddy, this handsome cattle dog will melt your heart. The adoption fee is $250 + tax and covers age-appropriate vaccines, a microchip, and a spay/neuter.  We're open from 12-4 PM every day EXCEPT Wednesday! Story
Peri is really sweet, does well on a leash, and is crate trained. He loves to chase a ball or frisbee. He is 4 years old and I got him through through direct adoption when he was about 2 months old. He does really well around kids and cats, and other dogs. I can no longer keep him due to my special needs son pulling on him and patting him aggressively.
