As an Australian Kelpie Mix, Bronco combines the intelligence, athleticism, and eagerness to learn that Kelpies are known for with the loyalty and affectionate nature that make them such devoted companions. Australian Kelpie mixes thrive when they have opportunities to stay active, learn new things, and spend quality time with their people. They are highly trainable, enjoy having a purpose, and respond exceptionally well to positive reinforcement. Bronco would thrive in a home prepared for: Daily exercise and outdoor adventures Plenty of playtime, especially games of fetch Continued positive reinforcement training Mental stimulation and enrichment Structure, consistency, and routine A lifelong commitment to his emotional and physical well-being With his intelligence, friendly personality, and love for people, Bronco is ready to become a loyal companion who will happily join his family on every adventure, then curl up nearby at the end of the day. Training, Adjustment & What to Expect Like many rescue dogs, Bronco may need time to adjust to a new home, routine, and environment. Even well-socialized dogs benefit from patience and consistency during the transition period. Most rescue dogs arrive with varying levels of training, so adopters should be prepared to continue reinforcing household manners and routines. Bronco will need: Daily walks and exercise Routine veterinary care and wellness exams Preventative care including flea, tick, and parasite prevention Proper nutrition and weight management Continued training and mental enrichment A safe, stable indoor living environment Consistent veterinary care, daily exercise, emotional support, and companionship are essential to helping Bronco live a happy, healthy, and fulfilling life. Story
Meet Hassan Breed: Husky / Kelpie Mix Sex: Male DOB: July 17, 2022 Weight: 66 pounds Health: Healthy and vaccinated Hassan is a striking, intelligent boy with soulful eyes and a strong, resilient heart. He was abandoned and rescued from a very busy roadway, where he was dangerously close to being hit by cars. Thankfully, he was saved in time — and now he’s ready for the safe, loving forever home he deserves. Despite his difficult beginning, Hassan has remained loyal, playful, and full of life. Personality Hassan lives peacefully with other dogs and enjoys being around humans. He loves going out for walks, running, and exploring the world around him. Playtime is one of his favorite things — especially chasing a ball or carrying around plush toys. When he first meets new people, Hassan can be a little reserved or cautious. But once he gets to know you, his personality softens beautifully, and he becomes affectionate and loyal. He just needs a little time to feel secure. Hassan does not like sharing his food, so he would do best in a home where feeding routines are managed thoughtfully and respectfully. Breed Info: Husky / Kelpie Mix This is a smart, athletic mix that typically brings: High intelligence and problem-solving ability Strong loyalty to their people Active energy that thrives with exercise A desire for engagement and purpose Hassan will do best in a home that enjoys walks, outdoor time, and mental stimulation. Owner Responsibilities Hassan will thrive with: Daily exercise (walks, running, play sessions) Continued positive reinforcement training Clear structure and consistency Managed feeding routines due to food guarding Patience while he builds trust with new people He is not difficult — he simply needs leadership, routine, and love. &#226&#154&#160&#239&#184&#143 Things to Consider Before Adopting Before bringing Hassan home, please consider: Do you have time for daily exercise and enrichment? Is your home and lifestyle stable long-term? Are pets allowed where you live? Can you provide structure and manage feeding separately if needed? Adoption is a lifelong commitment, especially for an active breed mix Hassan deserves a home that won’t give up on him. Vet Care Although Hassan is healthy and vaccinated, adopters should schedule a visit with their own veterinarian as soon as possible after adoption to establish care and continue his wellness routine. The 3-3-3 Rule First 3 days: Hassan may be cautious and observant as he adjusts. First 3 weeks: He’ll begin to learn your routine and feel secure. First 3 months: Trust deepens, and his loving, loyal personality truly shines. Patience and consistency will help him flourish. Why Hassan Is Special Hassan survived being abandoned and left in danger — yet he still chooses trust. He is playful, intelligent, and deeply loyal once he bonds. He deserves stability, safety, and someone who will show him that he is finally home for good. If you’re ready for an active, devoted companion who will stand by you with loyalty and heart, Hassan is waiting for you If you are interested in adopting this amazing dog, please follow the link https://www.ozzieandfriendsrescue.org/adoptions and fill out an application  Thank you for choosing Ozzie and Friends Rescue. Story
Meet Simba Female DOB: September 27, 2025 Weight: 18 pounds current (medium breed) Breed: Australian Kelpie / Shepherd mix Neutered (Fixed) Vaccinated (1 DHPP/Sextuple vaccine + Rabies vaccine current) Microchipped Healthy & Adoption-Ready Personality, Breed Info & Expectations Simba is a happy young dog with a playful personality and a loving, social nature. At only 8 months old, she is still very much a puppy — curious, energetic, affectionate, and eager to continue learning about the world around him. She enjoys companionship, activity, and spending time with both people and other dogs. Simba gets along well with other pups and would likely thrive in a home where she can continue socializing, learning, and being included in daily life. As an Australian Kelpie / Shepherd Mix, Simba is an intelligent, loyal, and energetic companion with a strong desire to be part of the family. This breed mix often combines the Australian Kelpie's exceptional work ethic, athleticism, and eagerness to learn with the Shepherd's confidence, devotion, and highly trainable nature. The result is a dog that is both affectionate and highly engaged with the people they love. These dogs thrive with regular physical exercise, mental stimulation, and positive reinforcement training. They enjoy activities that challenge both their mind and body, such as hiking, running, puzzle toys, obedience training, and interactive games. They are happiest when they have a purpose and are included in everyday family life. An Australian Kelpie / Shepherd Mix would thrive in a home prepared for: Daily exercise and outdoor adventures Continued positive reinforcement training Mental stimulation and enrichment Structure, consistency, and routine Plenty of companionship and family interaction A lifelong commitment to their emotional and physical well-being With patience, guidance, and plenty of love, an Australian Kelpie / Shepherd Mix grows into a confident, loyal, and devoted companion who enjoys staying active, learning new skills, and sharing every adventure with their forever family. Training, Adjustment & What to Expect Many rescue puppies and young dogs come from uncertain beginnings and may not have had structure, socialization, or training before arriving at rescue. Even at 8 months old, Simba is still learning and developing emotionally and socially. Young dogs are not automatically trained simply because they are older puppies. The rescue environment itself also does not always allow for extensive one-on-one training. While we work hard to provide safety, structure, and socialization, adopters should expect to continue training and guidance after adoption. Adopting a young dog means being prepared for: Potty training reinforcement and accidents Teething and chewing behaviors Leash training and obedience work Jumping and playful puppy behavior Continued socialization and confidence-building Daily exercise, structure, and supervision Routine veterinary care and vaccine boosters Financial commitment throughout the dog’s lifetime Simba will benefit from: Positive reinforcement training Daily structure and routine Continued socialization and exposure Exercise and mental stimulation Patience, consistency, and supervision Please remember the 3-3-3 Rule: 3 days to decompress 3 weeks to learn your routine 3 months to fully feel at home With patience, guidance, and commitment, dogs like Simba blossom into deeply loyal lifelong companions. Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care Owning a dog is a lifelong commitment that includes training, daily exercise, companionship, routine veterinary care, financial responsibility, and emotional commitment throughout every stage of life. Simba will need: Daily walks, exercise, and interaction Continued training and guidance Routine veterinary visits and future vaccine boosters Preventative care including flea, tick, and heartworm prevention Proper nutrition and weight management Mental stimulation and enrichment A safe, stable, indoor living environment Because Simba is still a young dog, consistency and structure are especially important in helping her mature into a confident and well-balanced adult dog. Simba is an indoor family dog and is not to be chained or left outside. Story
Rusty is a great dog with lots of personality. He can be chill and just hang out with you or go on an adventure. He's been through all the training classes at Pet Smart, but a refresher never hurts. Rusty takes his home seriously and likes to patrol the yard ensuring all is well. He needs a new home without little kids. He currently lives with 3 cats and another dog. We have a new child in the house and he isn't good with small kids. I no longer have the ability to care for him and he deserves the world! He likes to take walks and be physical--he's a Mini American Shepherd after all. Rusty is not super food motivated, although he never turns down a treat. He does know how to heel and ignores other dogs when he's out and about. He is very reserved in the beginning but does come around. If it weren't for my current situation I would keep him forever.
