All fees listed include transport fees.** Scout, Pet Detective is a dog who is sweet, smart, and adventurous. He is a very curious dog who is always eager to learn new things and explore the world. He is very loyal to his family and loves to cuddle up on the couch with his favorite people after a long day of investigating. He gets along with other dogs and Scout loves people. He is both house and crate trained and working on his leash skills. Like any good detective, he is smart and a great listener. Scout is looking for a relaxing home where he can retire from his days of solving mysteries. If you're looking for a quiet, calm, and sweet companion, come meet Scout! He's sure to steal your heart with his adorable antics and his love for cuddles. He is around 2-3 years old and 55 pounds. We think he is an Australian kelpie mix of some sort. Interested in becoming a forever home for Scout? Fill out our online adoption application: http://www.friendswithfourpaws.org/adoption-form.html This is the first step in our process, and we don't go any further without an application. Find more adoptable pets, news and information on Instagram @friendswithfourpaws or our Facebook page Friends with Four Paws . We put a lot of time and energy into processing our adoptions to find our babies the best fit home for them and you. Please do not submit an application if you are not serious about adopting. We are so excited to work with you to find you a new forever friend, and appreciate you working with us.For immediate consideration, please attach your application to the initial inquiry to help us expedite the process. Our adoption fee is $525. This includes their spay/neuter surgery, full (age appropriate) vaccinations, microchip insertion and registration, deworming, heartworm testing and prevention, flea and tick prevention and travel expenses. All of our dogs are rescued from local shelters and the general public. Each dog is then placed in a foster home where he/she is kept for quarantine, to ensure if the dog gets sick it can receive proper treatment. We have foster homes in the NJ/NY area waiting to receive their fosters. Once an animal has received an application or there's an adopter interested, we make arrangements for transport. If a dog is already in foster care in NYC/NJ, an adopter will be put in touch with the foster home AFTER an application is being processed. Thank you in advance for your patience with our process and for making adoption YOUR option!

Story
Porter is around 14 mos old. He was found and taken in by the owners and though he struggles to leave his scavenging ways behind when he’s outside, he doesn’t dig in garbage or counter surf. He will lie down during human meals. He’s on the anxious side, they say. Can get startled by loud noises like traffic or things around the house, like opening new garbage bags. He’s got some issues with resource-guarding. He can get excited to play and play nip. They’ve been working with him to stop it. He can get overwhelmed by large groups of dogs and will cower. He’s made huge amounts of progress since they found him and gets better every day. He’s a fast learner. He’s so smart, playful and very affectionate with his people. He loves off-leash walks through the woods. Or being a mountain biking wingman. He likes keep away and chew sticks. Mental stimulation and regular exercise are important, especially for his breed. He is happiest and at his best when he has routine and clear boundaries. They know he will be a wonderful, devoted canine partner to someone. They both work too much and travel. Porter doesn’t board particularly well and they realize he would have the most benefit from a more stable home than their own. They’ve had him neutered and gotten him his shots while teaching him to live in civilization, they say. If you’re interested in meeting/adopting Porter, fill out an application at sccpets.com. If approved, we’ll put you in touch with the owner. His adoption fee is $200.If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an adoption application.June 12, 2025, 5:03 am

Story
Mary Jane is a spayed cattle dog mix. She’s 3-4 years old, and 40 lbs. She’s grown up with kids but is territorial in and around their home towards other people and kids. Outside her own neighborhood she’s shy and needs some time to warm up to new dogs and people. She’s nervous but interested in other dogs. She chases cats. MJ is obedient, smart, food-motivated, and great with her family and kids. Owners have tried a dog trainer but simply don’t have the time to devote to exposure and advanced training. She goes to the dog sitters homes and after a 15 minute warmup period does well with other dogs. If you’re interested in a fun little dog that needs her own person, please fill out an application at sccpets.com (at no cost or obligation to you). Her adoption donation is $200.If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an adoption application.February 10, 2025, 2:49 pm
