Story
The more time Crystal spends in her foster home, the more we learn about this quirky little girl and what her perfect forever home will look like! 😂❤️
Crystal is currently around 17½ lbs and gaining back the weight she lost. She's still a very picky eater, but she's eating a healthy diet of dry food with homemade fresh farm turkey and meal toppers. And when it comes to treats... apparently freeze-dried beef liver is the only acceptable option. 😂
Her personality is really starting to shine! Crystal has a moderate activity level, loves to swim, plays tug with rope toys, nuzzles her stuffed lamb, and enjoys playing with her foster doggy siblings. Toys are no longer an issue for her at all! 👏 She has a silky, medium-length coat and has been shedding very little in her foster home.
Crystal is also a smart girl! 🧠 She knows sit, stay, down, and "go to bed," is working on paw, and is learning to wait at the door before going outside. Potty training is still a work in progress... apparently going outside and then pooping in foster mom's office 30 minutes later seemed like a perfectly reasonable decision to Crystal. 🤦♀️😂
She does great when adult visitors come into the home! Her foster family simply asks everyone to ignore her and allow her to approach on her own terms. No barking or drama—she settles in beautifully. ❤️
After spending more time observing Crystal around children, we have decided that an adult-only home will be best for her. She is still learning boundaries and building confidence, and we want to set both Crystal and her future family up for success.
Crystal is dog friendly, not cat friendly, and not suited for a home with livestock. She is still working on food resource guarding, but her foster family continues to work with her using positive reinforcement and management.
And we can't forget Crystal's strangest new hobby... 😂 She sometimes runs up, wraps BOTH front paws around your leg, and lets her back end drag while you walk! Apparently Crystal thinks she's a cat. 🤷♀️🐈😂 For that reason, she needs a family steady on their feet who can handle her goofy antics!
Crystal has come SO FAR, and every day we're learning more about the smart, playful, affectionate, and slightly weird little dog hiding underneath all that fear. 🩷 She's not the right dog for every home—but we know her perfect person is out there.
