Story
Lucy is an active Mini American Shepherd mix, approximately 1 year old and ALL puppy!  She would make a great agility dog, or a dog for an active person. Her favorite toys are the disc and her ball. She loves fetch. She will need a fenced yard. I have no doubt she will follow you like a shadow once she is comfortable. She attaches to her human very quickly and craves attention. She would be better with a young dog who likes to play (a lot) or as an only dog. She was probably dumped and is now afraid of getting in the car, but she is getting better every day with short rides, knowing she is coming home. She has been around cats. She ignores my older cat, and probably would my younger one, if the cat would stop encouraging play! Lucy is an absolute sweetheart. If you are not knowledgeable about the breed, she is probably not the dog for you. If you are looking for an active dog that wants to be your best friend, then please apply for adoption.  Lucy is looking for her very own human. She has been spayed and microchipped and is up-to-date on all of her vaccines. Her adoption fee is $175.00. You can apply for Lucy online at www.4pups.org by clicking the Adopt button under her photo. ##1801248##

Story
We're excited to announce the adoption of Shadow, a wonderful dog, from the Humane Society. Shadow is affectionate and enjoys walks, chewing on bones, and staying close to his family. However, he has shown protective instincts and has reacted aggressively towards visitors. We are seeking a new home for him where his guarding tendencies will be valued and managed. Your help in spreading the word to find the perfect home for Shadow would be greatly appreciated.

Story
URGENT Courtesy Post: Owner Surrender/Rehoming- Anderson, IN Duke is a 8 year old Australian Shepherd and weighs around 90 lbs. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on shots and on heartworm prevention. Duke is good with dogs, cats and older children. No small children due to his reactivity! He bit a 2 year old child with special needs who was bothering him and put his face near him. He belonged to the owner’s daughter, who passed away. She doesn’t have the space to keep him, so he is living with a family member who has small children. He is being surrendered due to not doing well with their small children. He needs to find a new home by 9/17! If you think you can provide a great home for Duke, please contact the owner listed below. There is a $150 rehoming fee to assure good folks with good intentions. This fee will be donated to Australian Shepherds Furever for their assistance in placing Duke. Owner’s Contact Information: Sheri Trail-Likoy at (859) 433-7254 or skyeblueky@gmail.com.

Story
Meet Banana! After being a mom and then dumped at the shelter, Banana came to us ready to have a life where she was someone’s baby. Banana is a double merle Aussie mix, and unfortunately does have visual impairments. She is not completely blind, but does sometimes struggle with vision. Thankfully, Banana is able to hear perfectly, and is able to live a normal life! Banana was not well socialized in her life prior, so it takes her time to adjust to new situations. She spent about 2 weeks in her foster home avoiding touch and interaction, but did very well following cues from the other dogs. She LOVES other dogs, and has been wonderful with all sizes. Once she warmed up to her foster parents, she was a whole new girl! She is a playful, active, hilarious dog with so much personality. Her head tilts and silly ears are cute as can be, and her goofy prancing is enough to win anyone over. Banana does like to play with dogs, and is just learning how toys work. She likes to pull all the toys out of the toy box, and then uses it as a place to hang out. Banana is doing well with potty training, but will need consistency to keep her on track. She had never been on leash prior to coming to us, and although she is significantly better, she will need to keep practicing so she feels more comfortable. Banana would do best in a home with a fenced yard and , atleast one other confident and playful dog. Her new family will need to be patient and low traffic. Although banana is kind to people, loud/busy children would be a little much for her at this time. Banana is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, heartworm negative, and current on flea and heartworm prevention. Her adoption fee is $200.
