She enjoys being around her humans and has a polite demeanor, even if she can be a little stiff during handling at first. Like many herding breeds, Montana can become overstimulated at times and may show some classic herding behaviors like chasing or nipping at ankles, especially when new people visit. Because of this, she’ll do best with a family that can help manage introductions, possibly using a leash or giving her a quiet space until she feels comfortable and understands everyone is a friend.Montana is both potty trained and crate trained, making her an easy addition to a home routine. She has a good history with cats and has done well with preteens and older children, though her experience with younger kids is unknown. In her previous home, she lived with multiple dogs but had conflict with one. In care, she appears nervous and avoidant around other dogs. Because of this, we believe Montana would thrive as the only dog in the home where she can relax and feel secure.Overall, Montana is a loyal, sensitive companion who will do best in a calm, understanding home that can give her structure, patience, and plenty of love.

Oreo is a 2‑year‑old mini Australian Shepherd (24 lbs) with a sweet, loving personality. He’s full of energy, playful, and also loves to cuddle. Oreo can be a bit shy at first with new people, but once he’s comfortable, he’s very affectionate. He does great with other dogs and enjoys playing with them.Oreo is house‑trained, crate‑trained, neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccinations.Oreo would do best in a home without young children. Like many herding breeds, he can be protective and has recently shown discomfort around high‑energy play involving kids. We feel he would thrive in a calmer environment where he doesn’t need to be crated for frequent gatherings. This has been a very difficult decision, but we truly want what’s best for him.

While at the shelter, Willow and Zoey have lived up to their herding dog heritage-- they love being with their people, being active outside, and herding you if they don`t think you`re moving fast enough for their liking. Willow and Zoey lived with both a cat and another dog in their previous home, but we think they`d do best living as the only animals so they can settle into their new life more easily.Willow and Zoey are up to date on all age-appropriate vaccines, spayed and microchipped.
