Story
A heartwarming story of resilience, rescue, and a whole lot of love. Meet Chase, a sweet young pup with a storied past. He is a little over 2 years old, an Australian Shepherd–Labrador Retriever mix, and a medium-sized boy at 56 lbs.     •    Age: 2 years     •    Breed: Australian Shepherd–Labrador Retriever Mix     •    Weight: 56 lbs     •    Health: Fully cleared after heartworm treatment     •    Training: Learns quickly; housebroken; improving on leash     •    Good with cats: Curious but respectful     •    Good with dogs: Friendly with dogs his age     •    Quirks: Suckles on bedding or clothing when calm; initially nervous at the vet His journey Chase was initially rescued in Texas after living as a stray who was regularly fed by Border Control Agents. He began showing up in a nearby neighborhood, and lucky for him, his current fosters gained his trust and brought him into rescue. Like many stray dogs, Chase tested positive for heartworms, but he has since completed treatment and is fully cleared. He has traveled from Texas to New York to North Carolina with his fosters and has enjoyed every bit of the adventure. Chase learned quickly that dog beds are cozy, chew toys are fun, and regular meals are pretty great. Though his personality blossomed into a happy, playful dog, he also showed a gentle, sensitive side. When he first arrived, everything was new: living indoors, walking on a leash, sleeping on a dog bed, playing with toys, even eating treats. He had never experienced any of it. Housebreaking came easily, but leash walking took more time — he would weave, circle, and tangle himself and his walker in a hilarious display of enthusiasm. He has bonded beautifully with his canine pack and gets along well with other dogs. He is fascinated by his foster’s daughter’s cat — eager to get close, but respectful when the cat prefers space. Personality and ideal home     •    Temperament: Gentle, sensitive, affectionate once he trusts you     •    Companionship: Bonds deeply with his people     •    Environment: Thrives in a calm, patient home     •    Furry roommates: Enjoys friendly dogs; respectful of cats     •    Routine: Benefits from consistency, reassurance, and continued leash practice Chase is a wonderful dog — intelligent, loving, and eager to belong. He may be a bit unsure at first in a new environment, but once he feels safe, he settles beautifully. Given the chance, he will quickly become your loyal companion and best buddy.

Story
PLEASE NOTE: This dog is currently out of state but will be transported to Massachusetts shortly with no additional travel costs. Roughly 90% of our dogs are adopted prior to their transport up to MA and 10% are adopted locally.Meet Milton! Milton is approximately 7 months old, 36 lb currently, and he is a mixed breed pup! He was a stray with a bad case of Demodetic mange who wandered up to a good samaritan! His hair is growing back but he still looks a tad scruffy. In his foster home, he is doing great with his house training, crate training and leash walking. He could join households with kids 5+ and other playful pups. No cats please! His foster says, `This adorable teenage boy is Milton! This boy has had us in stitches while we’ve been fostering him! He is all legs..all enthusiasm..and approximately 12% coordination! He can miss a step while standing still! Lol Despite the occasional dramatic flop or stumble he has a heart of gold..a goofy grin and enough personality to fill an empty room. He adores everyone he meets and the feeling is mutual..he’s been stealing hearts around here. Nothing makes his tail wag faster than meeting new canine friends either he’d love a fun four legged friend to romp and play with. And while he’s a certified goofball he’s equally sweet and snuggly and loves to be close to his people. He’s still learning what this big world is all about but if you’ve ever wanted a front-row seat to the worlds most lovable awkward phase with endless couch cuddles..then this adorable..gangly boy might just be your perfect match!`He is available for adoption in N Dartmouth on July 17th or possibly earlier. Please fill out an application on our website at https://www.browndogcoalition.com/adoptable as a first step.-Dogs may not be given as gifts or surprises.-Please thoughtfully discuss with your entire household the physical, safety, financial and emotional responsibilities of a dog BEFORE applying to adopt.- More information about our adoption process, application and adoption fees can be found at browndogcoalition.com.

Story
Meet Kelly & Winnie — a bonded pair looking for a forever home together Kelly is a ~45lb 6-year-old Australian Shepherd, and Winnie is a ~85lb 5-year-old Black Lab. They are best friends/sisters who share a special bond, and they’re hoping to find a home where they can stay side by side. Kelly is a gentle, intelligent, sweet-natured girl who may be a little shy at first, but with a bit of patience, she opens up into an incredibly loving and loyal companion. Once she’s comfortable, her playful and slightly sassy personality shines through. She enjoys walks, keeping an eye on the yard (especially the squirrels), and relaxing indoors with her people. She’s well-mannered, good on a leash, and will let you know when she needs to go outside. Winnie is pure sunshine. The best way to describe her is a teddy bear—big, soft, and full of love. She’s friendly, outgoing, and adores everyone she meets, whether it’s people, kids, or even cats. Winnie is affectionate, funny, and incredibly loyal. She’ll “talk” to you, keep you company, and always make sure everyone around her is okay. She loves walks, playtime, and then curling up for cuddles afterward. Together, they balance each other perfectly—Kelly brings a calm, watchful presence, while Winnie brings warmth and outgoing energy. They both love spending time outside and then coming in to be part of the family. Both dogs are: Great with kids and cats Spayed Leash trained In need of updated vaccinations/grooming Rehoming them is a difficult decision due to their owner's medical limitations that make it hard to give them the time and activity they need. They have so much love, loyalty, and companionship left to give, and they truly deserve a home where they can thrive—together. If you’re looking for not just one amazing dog, but a built-in pair of best friends who will fill your home with love and companionship, Kelly and Winnie are ready to fill your home with unconditional love. The best way to begin this adoption is to directly email storkwoods@comcast.net and request an application.
