Story
Dingo is a 7 year old male Australian Shepherd mix. Dingo is a sweet gentleman and a snuggly couch potato. Dingo walks well on leash and goes right into his kennel when asked to. Dingo loves to cuddle, sleep, and have some tasty treats. Dingo is already neutered, so he can stroll along to his furever home today! Come adopt from the Humane Society of South Mississippi (HSSM)! Each year HSSM houses approximately 7,000 homeless pets. Every day we are fighting a space capacity crisis as we try to care for the overwhelming amount of abandoned local pets. If you have a question about one of our adoptable animals, give us a call at (228) 863-3354, email adoptions@hssm.org or stop by from 10am-5pm Tuesday-Friday or 10am-4pm Saturday. Walk-ins stop 30 minutes before close. We are located at 2615 25th Ave in Gulfport. Come to our back parking lot through our adoptions entrance.

UPDATE!!&#226&#156&#168 One of our amazing volunteers worked endlessly to catch this sweet litter of 6 that were dumped and had been living on the streets for several weeks. Thanks to some amazing fosters that stepped up we were able to get these beauties to safety. They are slowly coming around and learning to be real puppies and their little personalities are starting shine! They appear to be lab/aussie/shepherd maybe! They are 11-13 weeks and 10-12lbs. They will be medium to large sized adults. They are utd, dewormed, altered and ready for their forever homes.  Our adoptions are NOT on a first come first serve basis and there is no fee to apply! We never state any animal is fully House-trained. All dogs have a $175 adoption fee which includes vet check, age appropriate shots (atleast 2 sets for puppies), dewormer, heartworm test (if over 6 months), rabies (if atleast 16 weeks) and spay/neuter! Puppies will be altered before adoption. All rescues and shelters practice pediatric spay and neuter. This is essential in our rescue efforts and it is a policy that we will stick by. All dogs over 8 weeks and 2 pounds will be altered before adoption. There are no exceptions to this rule on all healthy and adoptable dogs. We have researched and discussed in depth with multiple vets everything on pediatric spay and neuter and from a rescue stand point it must be done. Please do not ask for an extension on spay and neutering, it will NOT be granted on a healthy puppy!  Puppies/Dogs that are not available for adoption due to vetting not being complete can be reserved with an approved application and a non refundable $50 deposit. Deposits can ONLY be submitted once the rescue has been in contact on your approval and it has been requested through Wags and Whiskers. This deposit is applied to your adoption fee and the remaining $125 is due at pick up. Wags and Whiskers is an all-volunteer rescue. Please allow us time to respond to all inquires and applications!
