Brodie is an amazing dog but with my busy schedule and another dog to look after, I sadly cannot care for both of them as well as I anticipated when I first picked up Brodie. He's still young at 7 months and learning commands but he is potty trained and great with other pets and people.

Story
Hi! My name is Moana. I am 6 years old and a very loving girl. I am in need of a good home that can give me a good life and attention. My current owner is too busy to give me the attention I need. I love kids and get along with all animals. I am very attentive and very calm. I am very well behaved and have been very loved all of my life. I can walk without a leash and will listen to you. I will bark at someone if I don't know them but then turn over and let them pet my belly. I will protect you from noises I do not hear regularly and make sure you know something is going on. I am mostly quiet and want your love and attention always.

Meet Mowgli! Mowgli was surrendered when his owner had to deploy and is looking forward to rejoining a family. He starts off a bit timid but warms up with some encouragement! Mowgli is an expert leash walker and is eager to follow directions. He will 'sit' and 'paw' for treats and retrieve them gently. Mowgli likes a good tug toy but loses interest when he realizes that he rather be getting all of the pets and butt scratches! He came from a home with cats and got along with them well, he is also house-trained. Mowgli's heart is as big as his smile. Come in and meet him today!

Story
Reintroducing Tundra who has been in foster care for over a year with no interest in Newport News. Tundra is a 14 month old Australian shepherd/hound mix. His coloring is white with tan spots, and he loves being pampered at bath/brush time. He has learned to have his nails cut as well. Tundra is extremely smart and masters puzzle toys within minutes. His favorite toys are a chewing toys or a squeaky toy. Tundra is crate trained and knows basic commands. He loves to go on hikes with his foster family. He has had experience with other dogs from 5lbs to 100lbs and finds friends in them all. Another dog may help him adjust to his new home faster but is not necessary in his forever home. At 70 pounds he is a complete snuggle bug! His favorite part of the day is getting to cuddle with you in bed or on the sofa. He likes all people but LOVES women and will steal your girl if you are not careful. His foster dad has taught him that guys time though means new adventures like exploring Home Depot. Tundras has in simple terms cone vision. He can only see with limited vision in one eye. He does not let this stop him though and his foster sisters have even taught him fetch (he can follow them to the toy / follow it if it’s tossed close). Tundra has a condition called Microphthalmia, which has caused his left eye to be too small, red and blind. Microphthalmia is a genetic malnutrition that happened during gestation when his mother did not receive the right nutrients. This condition causes the eye to be underdeveloped. His right eye has limited vision. With his limited vision he takes time to warm up to new environments, people, and objects in the dark. When nervous or scared at a new object he may bark with a very deep bark but he will run and hide as soon as he does. Due to this we do not recommend homes with children under the age of 15/16. One of the ways Tundra has adapted to his limited vision is through touch and so you will often feel him walk against your leg or put his paw on you or notice him sitting almost on your feet. His vets only recommend eye drops to his eyes when it is very windy or he digs in something like sand or dirt due to the possibility of getting something in his eye. The eye drops are over the counter. His perfect forever home would have an active lifestyle, a fenced in yard, and patience to allow Tundra to warm up to new surroundings. If Tundra sounds perfect for your family, please fill out our application: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application There is an additional $20 microchip fee which includes registration and transfer to his new family. All adoption fees are used for future rescue efforts.

Story
Hi, I'm Ladybug, but my foster family calls me Lady. I'm located in the Hampton Roads part of Virginia. I am a two-year-old blue Merle Australian shepherd. With one blue eye and one brown eye. I can be a bit skittish, but who can blame me, I came from a terrible situation. When my foster family took me in, I was all skin and bones, plus I had parvo. Luckily, with some fast acting, we were able to make me all better, and I have been gaining weight. Because I was forced to live in a crate for the first two years of my life, I am not completely potty trained. My foster family has been trying to teach me, but I think I would do better with someone who has the time to solely teach me. I have a foster brother and sister, and they make it a bit difficult because they want all the treats too. I get along very well with my foster aussie siblings. It took a few days to warm up, but eventually, we were running around and play fighting all over. I love to be outside probably because I didn't really get to be outside much before. I have not been around cats, but I have been around a rabbit, and I thought she would make a tasty snack. I love my foster human siblings( 3 years old and 11 years old). we play and cuddle all the time. Did I mention how much I love to cuddle. I turn into a puddle in your lap! I would make a great heating blanket. My foster family thinks I'm just the sweetest girl despite the fact that I had such a rough beginning. I will need a lot of love and patience, especially with my potty accidents. They also laugh at my bark. They think it's the funniest thing. I love toys, but they do not survive. I also do great on a leash! If you want a sweet girl that will be a couch potato with you but also loves to be outside and watch you garden, I will be your best gal. If I sound perfect for you, here is the application: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application There is an additional $20 microchip fee which includes registration and transfer to my new furever family. All adoption fees are used for future rescue efforts.

Story
We are trying to help this sweet girl called Bonnie Belle to find a home since her elderly parents are in failing health and cannot care for their five dogs.  Bonnie Belle is a mix of some interesting breeds.  We think she has some Aussie and maybe Boxer in her.  The Australian Shepherd trait is what makes her a protector of the yard and home when strangers approach.  She is the home security dog officer!   This girl is losing her home because her elderly parents have fallen into bad health.  Bonnie Belle is 4 years old and weighs a little over 40 pounds.  She adores people and is good with the other dogs that she spends time with in the fenced yard.  She is housebroken, affectionate and a devoted girl to her family.  If you would like to give Bonnie her next forever home, please email Critter Cavalry Rescue who is helping her at ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.May 5, 2024, 11:12 am
