Story
Meet Abby! This adorable young adult medium sized Aussie mix ended up at a local shelter and was struggling to cope with shelter life. In typical breed fashion, she is can be a weirdo and needs a herding breed savvy owner who understands the quirk she brings along. She is working on crate and house training. She is very interactive with adults and so far quite social in general. She struggles with body handling and restraint with strangers but allows all the things from her “person”. She has met dogs, cats, and goats and has done well too! No children for this girl. Her new family will need to be ready for this smart and quirky lady and be committed to training and keeping her mind and body active and learning! Interested families can submit applications for adoption on our website- www.k9Justiceleague.com.

Story
Reintroducing Tundra who has been in foster care for over a year with no interest in Newport News. Tundra is a 14 month old Australian shepherd/hound mix. His coloring is white with tan spots, and he loves being pampered at bath/brush time. He has learned to have his nails cut as well. Tundra is extremely smart and masters puzzle toys within minutes. His favorite toys are a chewing toys or a squeaky toy. Tundra is crate trained and knows basic commands. He loves to go on hikes with his foster family. He has had experience with other dogs from 5lbs to 100lbs and finds friends in them all. Another dog may help him adjust to his new home faster but is not necessary in his forever home. At 70 pounds he is a complete snuggle bug! His favorite part of the day is getting to cuddle with you in bed or on the sofa. He likes all people but LOVES women and will steal your girl if you are not careful. His foster dad has taught him that guys time though means new adventures like exploring Home Depot. Tundras has in simple terms cone vision. He can only see with limited vision in one eye. He does not let this stop him though and his foster sisters have even taught him fetch (he can follow them to the toy / follow it if it’s tossed close). Tundra has a condition called Microphthalmia, which has caused his left eye to be too small, red and blind. Microphthalmia is a genetic malnutrition that happened during gestation when his mother did not receive the right nutrients. This condition causes the eye to be underdeveloped. His right eye has limited vision. With his limited vision he takes time to warm up to new environments, people, and objects in the dark. When nervous or scared at a new object he may bark with a very deep bark but he will run and hide as soon as he does. Due to this we do not recommend homes with children under the age of 15/16. One of the ways Tundra has adapted to his limited vision is through touch and so you will often feel him walk against your leg or put his paw on you or notice him sitting almost on your feet. His vets only recommend eye drops to his eyes when it is very windy or he digs in something like sand or dirt due to the possibility of getting something in his eye. The eye drops are over the counter. His perfect forever home would have an active lifestyle, a fenced in yard, and patience to allow Tundra to warm up to new surroundings. If Tundra sounds perfect for your family, please fill out our application: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application There is an additional $20 microchip fee which includes registration and transfer to his new family. All adoption fees are used for future rescue efforts.

Brodie is an amazing dog but with my busy schedule and another dog to look after, I sadly cannot care for both of them as well as I anticipated when I first picked up Brodie. He's still young at 7 months and learning commands but he is potty trained and great with other pets and people.

Story
Hi! My name is Moana. I am 6 years old and a very loving girl. I am in need of a good home that can give me a good life and attention. My current owner is too busy to give me the attention I need. I love kids and get along with all animals. I am very attentive and very calm. I am very well behaved and have been very loved all of my life. I can walk without a leash and will listen to you. I will bark at someone if I don't know them but then turn over and let them pet my belly. I will protect you from noises I do not hear regularly and make sure you know something is going on. I am mostly quiet and want your love and attention always.

Story
We are trying to help this sweet girl called Bonnie Belle to find a home since her elderly parents are in failing health and cannot care for their five dogs.  Bonnie Belle is a mix of some interesting breeds.  We think she has some Aussie and maybe Boxer in her.  The Australian Shepherd trait is what makes her a protector of the yard and home when strangers approach.  She is the home security dog officer!   This girl is losing her home because her elderly parents have fallen into bad health.  Bonnie Belle is 4 years old and weighs a little over 40 pounds.  She adores people and is good with the other dogs that she spends time with in the fenced yard.  She is housebroken, affectionate and a devoted girl to her family.  If you would like to give Bonnie her next forever home, please email Critter Cavalry Rescue who is helping her at ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.April 27, 2024, 10:00 pm

Story
Lora Lee is a very sweet dog that is just 2 years old and weighs 35 pounds.  She is said to be an Aussie mix with some Terrier.  Whatever the mix is we think she is a most unusual and truly a beautiful girl who well with other dogs in her foster home.  She is a friend to all and apparently she is house trained as long as taken out regular. Lola Lee is crate trained but cannot be left for long hours in the crate.  She is not leash trained  but is trying to improve.   We are requesting that applicants have a fenced yard for her because she is an active girl that needs to run and play with freedom and not at the end of a leash only. This beauty loves to cuddle and be by your side like your BFF and shadow. If you have another dog that would be great for her to have a playmate that can help her wear out her energy every day.  Lola Lee is a great girl and she is going to need an active family that can challenge and meet her need for exercise and be able to keep up with her.   She is really not a dog for a retirement couple that are ready to have a more laidback dog with fewer exercise demands.  If you are interested in this girl please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.April 27, 2024, 10:00 pm

Story
Hello, you lucky people! I know, when you hear the name Bianca you think of Beautiful and of course I am all of that and more.  But even though I am small in stature, but big in personality, I am an adorable force of nature. How big will I be when I grow up? Who knows, but my foster mom says I have enough cuteness and cuddles for any size.I am crate-trained, which is not the same as housebroken, but it means I don’t mind being in my crate and usually keep it clean and dry. I might holler and howl out of protest when you first put me in my crate, but my foster mommy says don’t be fooled. I’ll settle down with a blanket and toy after a little while. When I first go to a new home I will just have to get used to being without my brothers and sisters and get used to my new family. I sleep in my crate at night just fine but with company. I love mealtime and I also love to chase toys. If you get me settled on a blanket next to you, I love a good snuggle time filled with love.I’m ready. Come and get me! Love, Bianca.   Contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com     PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.com  April 27, 2024, 10:00 pm

Story
Hello World.  My name is Cypress and I am a pretty little Aussie mix puppy who was born on Feb. 4th, 2024 to a litter of 13 puppies.  My momma is a red and white Aussie and she was so brave and raised us all to be healthy and sweet natured. My foster mom says I am a spirited girl puppy that has boundless energy and a love for playtime.  I have learned the fine art of stealing hearts too!  If you watch me for long you will  be rolling in the grass with me laughing and having a gold old time. They say I have the perfect blend of charm and mischief.  I am totally committed to making you  have fun being around me.   I love other dogs and my foster mom has some big ones that I love to hang out with and pretend I am all grown up.  They teach me things too!  I get my intelligence from my Aussie breed influence from my momma.  She has a nice sweet nature that she passed along to all of her pups.   I even figured out the doggie door from the first day that I went to live with my second foster mom when I was 8 weeks old.  She was super impressed because I was so young and really small when I learned.  My future is bright and lying ahead of me with a special wish that I will find a special family that is active and really dedicated to teaching me how to be the best trained dog around. I want to learn, love and lasso your heart!  Write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com if you are ready!  I will be ready the first of May.      PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comApril 27, 2024, 10:00 pm

Story
What a precious, loving, beautiful young dog. Vance is a delight with many kisses! While slightly shy after his plane ride from Duplin County, he quickly warmed up and was so happy to ride in the car to his next destination. He covered his backseat handler with tons of love and kisses. Vance is about 35 lbs with eyes that melt your heart. He wants to be close to you, almost hugging you, yet ready to run and play. His fur is so soft and beautiful as if he has just been groomed. Vance is probably not quite a year old yet but will make a wonderful pet, especially for agility and obedience work. Vance is fully vaccinated, heartworm negative, on heartworm and flea prevention, and will be neutered and microchipped as soon as possible. He was very good with his traveling partner, a beautiful tan and white Beagle and collie mix, also from Duplin County, NC, and tested well with other dogs at the shelter. Now that Vance is getting ready for his forever home, you won’t find a happier dog! He's very playful and eager to please his humans. If you are interested in adopting Vance or need more information, just email adoptionsecondchance@gmail.com or go to secondchancehabitat.org and download an adoption application

Story
Say hello to Kendy, a peppy puppy so happy to be out of the Duplin County shelter! She is now free to run and play in a large fenced setting with her sisters where they finally get to experience the joys of puppyhood! At five months old and 23 pounds, Kendi is fully vaccinated, on heartworm and flea prevention, and will be spayed in a month or so when she's old enough. The dog scanner has her listed as a Catahoula Leopard and border collie blend, but we can see some lab/terrier in her, too. She is definitely good with other dogs and very sweet and friendly with her humans. And if she's anything like her sister Knoxlee, she's also good with cats. Like her siblings, Kendi is very intelligent and would be an ideal candidate for agility training. She would be an absolute star on an agility course and make her owner proud! Now that she's out of the shelter, she has a chance to truly shine and be the outstanding little dog she's meant to be! If you think you might like to be part of Kendi's forever future, just email adoptsch@gmail.com or go to secondchancehabitat.org and download an adoption application.

Story
Now here's a young girl who's ready for fun! No need to ask twice--Davina will pack up and travel with you anywhere, anytime! She wears a constant smile on her face because she is just so full of joy! And it's contagious! She will entertain you with her silly antics and loves to do zoomies in the yard (fenced, please)! Naturally, she enjoys her activities because she's only a year old and at 47 pounds, she is a good size. She is fully vaccinated, dewormed, heartworm negative and will be spayed as soon as possible. As for her breed, the dog scanner lists her as a blend between an Australian Kelpie, Black and Tan Coonhound and Catahoula Leopard Dog. Davina was rescued from the Duplin County shelter in North Carolina in the nick of time and she's such a good save! Davina did well with other dogs when she was tested at the shelter and she adores her humans. Her zest for life is inspiring. If you are interested in sharing life's adventures with this sweet girl, then please email adoptsch@gmail.com for an adoption application or go to the website secondchancehabitat.org to download one.
