Story
Maverick just turned four in June. He loves to cuddle, play fetch, and run! He was Amish bred and we got him when he was 12 weeks old. As he got older he became very reactive and we have worked with numerous trainers and it has helped a little bit. We are looking to rehome him due to me just having a baby and it is not going well at all, and we’ve been trying to make it work. He is reactive based by fear (what the trainer has explained to us). He loves the attention of people if he knows you but is a completely different dog if he doesn’t know the person. We just want to find the perfect home for him to have the attention, space to run, and loving home.

Normal to high energy. Crate trained. Loves walks or runs. Needs walks more because of his breed or outside play. Would be amazing with a person who has a big yard with fence or something like that. He’s 5 until 12/12. He loves belly rubs and treats and will eat anything you give him. Chases cats but doesn’t purposely hurt them. He just wants to play with them and doesn’t understand he’s big. But he is a good boy. Does bark when he wants something like attention or food or to go outside. Like’s fetch and sleep. He is not aware of his own strength so elementary kids are kind of like iffy, or easily hurt by accident.

Meet Barbeque, better known around here as Barb! Barb is a big, hunky, handsome Australian Shepherd who is 100% living up to his name. He’s got a little extra meat on the bones right now, so he’s currently working on his dream bod with the help of our team. But truthfully, Barb is already pretty dang perfect just the way he is. He has quickly become a HUGE fan favorite around FDHS thanks to his sweet, easygoing personality and impeccable manners. He keeps a spotless kennel, is polite on leash, behaves himself in the feed area. This guy is really the whole package and then some!We were shocked when Barbeque came to us as a stray and was never reclaimed by his previous family. We estimate him to be around 7 to 8 years old, but without knowing his history, we don’t know if he has ever lived with children or cats. He has been polite but mostly indifferent toward the other dogs here at the shelter.Barb is a low-key kind of guy. He’s looking for a comfy couch, a peaceful home, some *healthy* meals, and someone who will appreciate having such a good boy by their side for his golden years.**Neutered, heartworm negative, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccines & monthly prevention. Weighs 78 lbs**

Meet Lucy! Lucy is believed to be a Mini Australian Shepherd, and at just 12 weeks old and barely 5 pounds, she has already shown us just how capable a tiny puppy can be. Lucy is blind and mostly deaf, but she doesn't know she's different. She has learned her way around her foster home, plays happily with the other dogs, keeps her crate tidy, and is learning to go potty outside. She is curious, playful, affectionate, and incredibly smart. But loving Lucy also means understanding that she will have lifelong special needs. Because Lucy cannot rely on sight or hearing to navigate the world, she must be adopted into a home with another confident, well-adjusted dog. That dog will become an important source of security and guidance as she grows, helping her learn routines, navigate new situations, and feel safe. A securely fenced yard will also be required. For Lucy, a fence isn't simply a preference - it is an essential safety measure. She will never be a dog who can safely wander an unfenced yard or be trusted off leash. Lucy currently uses her mouth and teeth quite a bit to communicated and explore, as puppies do, so we are recommending no young children, especially considering how tiny and vulnerable she is. We know Lucy's perfect home may take a little more searching. She needs someone patient enough to teach her through touch, routine, scent, and consistency. Someone willing to make accommodations throughout her life - not just while she is a cute five-pound puppy. But in return, you get to watch a little dog who experiences the world differently learn that it is safe, predictable, and full of people who love her. ] Lucy doesn't need anyone to feel sorry for her. She needs someone willing to believe in her - and give her the structure and security she needs to thrive. Lucy's forever home must have: ~A confident, friendly resident dog ~A securely fenced yard ~mature children ~Patience and willingness to accommodate a blind/deaf dog throughout her lifetime Lucy is a good girl who deserves her chance. Maybe her person is reading this right now!

Loyal 6 yr old AussieCollie mixes. Ideal setting: country setting or large fenced yard to play in. Boys will need adopted together. They are best buds. They are nuetred and up to date on shots. They lived with 2 adults, 3 children, and a cat. Great with all of us. Loyal, Smart, and active! Love outdoors: water is their fav! They can sit and shake! Honest Reality is: Bite history due to territorial Triggers. Both boys have 1 documented bite. Both due to stranger on property. Call or email if you'd like more details on this. Experienced Handler preferred. Someone that understands the herding breed and their territorial behaviors. These are truly great dogs that just need more than we can offer. Finacial hardship changed our situation terribly and we just want them to have the life and love they deserve!!!
