Greta. Her story deserves to be told. In November of 2020, Helpless Hounds took in a tiny adorable Bluetick Coonhound mix pup with 1 blue eye. Her foster fell in love with her, applied to adopt her, and it was what we call in rescue a "foster fail". That person eventually went on to open up a rescue of her own and unfortunately it appears that things got overwhelming, not only financially not probably also emotionally. Yesterday 26 animals were confiscated from the residence. I'm not here to judge because I definitely know what it's like to beg for help and no one step up. I know what it's like when it feels overwhelming and like you are all alone. What I will say is that when we got word about the situation we immediately sprung into action and knew that we had to get Greta back into our possession. So we worked with Tulsa Animal Services and reclaimed her. And now she is safe in a loving foster home thanks to someone stepping up to help her. We stand by our sentiment of "Once a Helpless Hound, always a Helpless Hound." And I truly, truly mean it when I say "Come what may, I won't abandon, or leave you behind. " Greta is currently 94 lb and 5 years old. She is in a foster home with other dogs and has always been around lots of other dogs and done well. She's potty trained and well-behaved. A very, very sweet girl. She is half Bluetick Coonhound and half Australian Shepherd, and we received pictures of her parents when we originally rescued her. She is up for adoption and is looking for a new home. Please share with anyone you know who's looking for a great dog!

Gracie was found living in a ditch across from our house. For several months we tried coaxing her out with no luck. One day she decided to trust me enough to pet her and she has been with us for the past two years. Gracie is an incredibly smart, loving, and affectionate dog. Within the past few months she and an older dog in the home have not been getting along. There are a total of six dogs on the ranch and she really only has issues with one of them. I will not give her to a home that already has dogs or plans on having another dog, for her sake. She is truly an amazing dog and deserves a loving family where she can go on walks and play without the stress of another dog in the home. Australian Shepards are known to be protectors, she naturally likes to guard her humans from other dogs. Boots is super sweet and lovable. She is good with dogs and cats, but can be a bit territorial. She lives on a farm, but has killed some of our chickens. Ducks & turkeys scare her. She has a herding instinct & tends to chase our horses and cattle too much. She is teaching these bad habits to our younger puppy. We feel like she would do better as an only dog. This Australian Shepherd barks at everything and would make a good watch dog. Young children seem to make her nervous & she barks at them. She really needs someone who can spend more time with her. Boots would make a great companion animal. She always wants pets and attention. She is always happy to see us.

You see I had an owner who I thought was a really nice person , but then she brought me down here to the shelter and just left me in the lobby all alone ! I was really scared but thankfully the amazing people here took me in instantly and have been taking care of me ever since.
