Story
🐾 Chip 🐾 Mini Australian Shepherd | Neutered Male | Approx. 1 Year Old | Brown & White Chip is a young Mini Aussie who originally came from a backyard breeding situation. Thankfully, a kind Good Samaritan stepped in to rescue him. Unfortunately, due to financial constraints, she was unable to keep him long term, and Chip was placed in our care so he could find a stable, loving forever home. Chip is very nervous and is still decompressing. He hasn’t fully shown his personality yet, but we know with time, patience, and consistency, his true self will emerge. He previously lived with other dogs, so we believe he does well with canine companions. He has been around a child in the past but has not been cat tested. 🩺 Current Medical Status: • Neutered • Dewormed • Rabies vaccinated • Treated for fleas 🕒 Adoption Readiness: Chip will not be ready for adoption for another 3–4 weeks while he completes his vetting. Once adoption-ready, Chip will be: • Rabies vaccinated • Distemper (DHPP) vaccinated • Leptospirosis vaccinated • Bordetella vaccinated • Microchipped • Heartworm tested 🏡 Ideal Home: Chip would do best in a calm, patient home that understands fearful dogs and is willing to let him adjust at his own pace. A home with another friendly, confident dog may help him feel more secure. 📍 Interested in Chip? You’re welcome to submit an application now and note your interest in Chip. Once he is fully vetted and ready, approved applicants will be contacted. 👉 Apply here: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HPAW/Dog

Story
This sweet Australian shepherd mix may be heartworm positive, but don’t let that scare you away. Heartworm is treatable, and with proper care, love, and a little patience, dogs like Ranger go on to live long, happy, tail-wagging lives. While not much is known about Ranger since he was a stray pickup, what I have learned during his time in foster is that he is a kind and gentle soul, a true gem of an Australian shepherd. He is calmer than most but enjoys a good walk. He is housetrained, learning commands and in his foster home he lives with cats and another dog. He will come to you for pets and fully enjoys having his ears scratched. He is crate trained and sleeps in his all night with no issues. He rarely barks. On walks he has been exposed to traffic, other dogs, random loud noises, charging dogs, ducks, geese and people. He just walks on with no concern. He does like to approach people and sit for pets though. The vet feels he is not yet two years old, and he weighs in at 51 pounds. He has been neutered and has all his vaccines. Ranger is available for foster to adopt while he goes through his heartworm treatment.

Story
Marmaduke is a big goofy lovebug! He adores children and other dogs. He is very curious about cats and chickens and is probably best in a home without those (or where he can be separated from them). He is only about 1 year old and has been in rescue all his life. He had a medical issue as a puppy that required surgery and he is completely healed from that. He will do best in a home with a secure fenced yard, another dog or dogs to play with that are not tiny since he's so big, and respectful animal-loving children that will love him as much as he loves them. If you are interested in Marmaduke, please fill out an application at our website: forrescue.net He is fostered in the Huntsville, AL area and could be available for transport but transport fees are on top of the adoption fee.

Story
Blue is an 8-year-old Australian Shepherd with classic good looks and an eager-to-please attitude. Originally adopted from Green Dogs Unleashed, Blue is a loyal companion who thrives on human connection and a consistent routine. While he has spent the last several years living with another Aussie, Blue has reached a stage in his life where he prefers to be the center of your world. He is looking for a home where he can be the only dog, allowing him to soak up all the attention, love, and care he deserves without having to share the spotlight. Skills & Personality Expert Fetcher: A massive fan of frisbee and fetch, Blue has even competed in disc dog competitions! Mannerly: He is house-trained, has solid basic recall, and walks nicely on a loose leash. Great Travel Buddy: He tolerates car rides well and is always down for an adventure. Engaged & Intelligent: He loves being involved in whatever his people are doing and appreciates a structured environment. Blue is the perfect match for an Aussie lover who appreciates the breed's intelligent, active nature but prefers a dog who is past the chaotic puppy stage. Because Blue thrives on one-on-one interaction, he prefers a home where he is the only pet, ensuring he remains the primary focus of your affection. We are still learning about his preferences with kids, so a calm, structured home with thoughtful introductions will be key to his success. If you are looking for a devoted, "velcro" buddy who is happy to fetch a frisbee and walk faithfully by your side, Blue is ready to be your one and only. At Green Dogs Unleashed (GDU), we are dedicated to ensuring the successful placement of our dogs in loving, permanent homes. Over the years, we have seen an increasing number of returns due to behavioral issues that could have been prevented with the right support. A significant percentage of these returns involve out-of-area clients or those who have not completed training with GDU. To address this, positive reinforcement training with Green Dogs Unleashed is required as a condition for all adoptions. Preference for this dog will be given to adopters who commit to signing up for and completing our six-week Canine 101 training class in person at our headquarters in Troy, VA. Secondary consideration will be given to a limited number of out-of-area adopters who agree to complete one private lesson with GDU, either in person or virtually, and attend a pre-approved positive reinforcement training class in their area. At the time you are seeing this post, this dog is still available for adoption. But please know that we may be working on multiple applications already, and any one of them could be approved at any time. Please READ THIS ENTIRE DESCRIPTION and complete an adoption application, if you are interested in any of our animals. Application at www.greendogsunleashed.org If you send an inquiry to ask if the dog is still available, or just tell us you are interested, your inquiry will not be answered. FILL OUT AN APPLICATION. We can do NOTHING without that. No, we cannot tell you if he would be a match for your family without seeing an application. PLEASE KEEP READING for info. */*/* PLEASE NOTE: The first communication you will receive after completing an application will be an email response, which will have instructions on how to proceed. Please check your inbox AND spam folders for the next 48 hours, for this email. We will not begin processing an application without the information requested in that email. */*/* We are happy to consider applicants from out of state on most dogs. Please read the description to see if this dog is an exception. If the applicant is approved to adopt, they MUST be willing to come to our location in Troy, VA, for a meet and greet. If all parties agree that the pup and family are a good fit, they would take the pup home at that time. For more information about our mission and for an APPLICATION for adoption, please go to www.greendogsunleashed.com. GDU does ask a minimum adoption fee of $400.00. This does not even come close to covering all expenses created by animals while in rescue. We are funded solely by the angels and volunteers willing to donate time and finances. This minimum fee includes DAPP, rabies if age appropriate,, heartworm test and preventative, if age appropriate, and flea and tick treatment, as well as neutering or spaying, if the animal is medically sound to undergo surgery. In an attempt to avoid tummy upset from a sudden change of food, the foster family may include a small, transitional bag of the food the dog/puppy has been eating. And if the dog/puppy has grown attached to a special item (like a toy or blanket), they may send that along, as well. */*/* Young puppies will receive age-appropriate vaccines, and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Adopters may be required to provide additional puppy boosters and at 16 weeks of age, a rabies vaccine. Future annual vaccines, testing and monthly heartworm preventative are REQUIRED, and will be the financial responsibility of the adopter. *****Due to the sheer number of animals and applications in our program, coupled with a limited number of volunteers, applicants MUST have patience as we process applications.   If you do not hear back from us, the animal may have been adopted.   We strive to let people know but sadly cannot offer reasons for denial beyond that.  Any harassment of our volunteers will go unanswered and we will simply block you.   Our volunteers spend their time working hard to ensure the very best for each animal.   Please remember the animal, not the applicant, is our client.*****  ##2608744##
