Story
It’s Mardi Gras season! Maggie is celebrating from Virginia. She is a 3 1/2 yr old 60 lbs Australian Shepard mix. Has been in foster with HMR for awhile and is now in Northern Virginia looking for her furever home. She checks so many boxes, absolutely housebroken, crates well if needed. Very, very respectful of the cats, get along with large and small dogs as well. She rides well in a vehicle and as an added bonus has even passed her AKC Canine Good Citizen test (search AKC CGC for more details on that). She is going to form a bond with her owners and will become a friend and protector. While she does enjoy meeting and getting love from new people she does need a moment to make sure they are safe, once she engages with someone new she is charming and charismatic but she definitely isn’t a dog that is going to be leaping on strangers (and honestly, dogs like Maggie are SO much easier to deal with). If you are interested in meeting or learning more about Maggie please fill out an application. She is currently located in Warrenton, VA. https://form.jotform.com/hailmaryrescue/hail-mary-rescue-adoption-applicati

ADOPTION FEE: $500 NEGOTIABLE Opie is an 8 month old purebred Australian Shepherd. He is such a sweet boy. He comes from a working line so he would make a wonderful farm hand or companion! He’s amazing with other dogs, older children and farm animals! Due to unforeseen circumstances I need to rehome him. He will come with 6 months of interceptor plus (heart worm prevention) and 6 months of Nexgard (flea and tick prevention). His adoption fee is $500. I just want to find him the best home. Thank you!

Story
Hi there! My name is Ray, short for 'Radar.'  That is because, you got it, my magnificent, perky ears!  I don't miss a thing!  Especially when I hear the sound of a hand reaching into a bag of my doggie treats.  I love running and playing with my foster sister so I would make a great companion pet. I also love my daily walks. I am working on gaining confidence when I'm out on walks and improving daily.  I am blind in my left eye, but I don’t reall notice it and it certainly doesn’t affect my ability to enjoy life or be a playful, loving dog. I do check the boxes for housetrained, dog friendly, kid friendly, all around people friendly and SWEETNESS.  Did I mention I sleep through the night! I warm up quickly when I first meet people and I love cuddles.  I have a heart full of love and wating for that person/family to welcome me into their home. Accuracy is not guaranteed; however, information provided is accurate to the best of our knowledge.  For more information on the pet, please send an email to info@aforeverhome.org February 15, 2026, 10:49 pm

Story
This handsome fellow and his siblings came in to rescue last winter after they were dumped on a back country road. Their mother was found deceased, so we took the puppies in to try to save them. They were very sick initially but are very healthy now. Big boy is a gentle boy but does love to run and play with other dogs. Big boy was the largest of the puppies, but his siblings have caught up to him. He has done amazing with his house and crate training. He is so deserving of a wonderful home to call his own. He is fostered in East TN, but transportation is included in the adoption fee and provided by Rescue Riders LLC. Please let me know if you have any questions. Please email us for the link to the adoption application (His adoption fee is only to cover transport and health certificate to travel to another state.)

Story
Maya (known as Sydney in her foster home of 4 months) is a beautiful, smart, gentle and sweet girl. She is very loving, playful, eager to please, and house-trained. She has a very short tail and when she sees someone she loves, her whole body wiggles! She is very intelligent and quickly learned the names of her various toys and often figures out what you want her to do before you even ask. She loves to be outside in the yard with her person and her canine buddy; walks in the neighborhood she likes, but walks in the woods she loves. She wants to be your best friend and do everything you ask, but sometimes the world is a little too scary for her. She can be slow to warm up to new people and places, and likes to have a "safe space" all her own. She is cautiously happy to meet most women and some men, but she is timid with older men. She therefore is unlikely to do well in a home that includes an older man, but would likely do well in a home with a younger man. Although she has had very limited exposure, she seems fine with children. She has been fine (but shy) with the cat in her foster home. She is initially timid around most dogs, but would probably do well sharing a home with a confident, playful dog, and as you can see from the videos, once she's comfortable with another dog, she loves to run and play! Maya will need a meet and greet before proceeding with an adoption. She was rescued by HART after being surrendered to a shelter; we don't know where she lived before that. She has made steady progress coming out of her shell, but will need a person(s) who has some experience with anxious dogs and will be very patient and loving with her. Questions About this Animal?
