🐾 Rue – The Brilliant, High‑Drive Australian Shepherd with AKC Papers Meet Rue, a stunning full‑blooded Australian Shepherd with AKC papers and the kind of intelligence and energy that make this breed so extraordinary. He will turn two years old on April 24, 2026, and he’s ready for a home that truly understands what a working‑minded dog needs to thrive. Rue is an active, athletic boy who absolutely requires a secure, fenced‑in yard where he can run, explore, and burn off his energy safely. He does not try to jump fences, but he does need room to move. He’s incredibly smart and already off‑leash trained—he’ll return to you with the blow of a whistle, a testament to his natural drive and eagerness to work with his person. Rue currently lives with both dogs and cats and does well with respectful, balanced dogs. He’s best paired with dogs who understand boundaries and don’t overwhelm him. He’s a sensitive, high‑drive dog who needs a home that is breed‑savvy—someone who knows how to provide the right mental and physical stimulation to keep him confident, calm, and fulfilled. Without that structure, he can become anxious or destructive, not because he’s “bad,” but because he’s incredibly intelligent and under‑challenged in his current environment. Rue is heartworm positive but is already on a slow‑kill protocol and doing well. With continued care and a stable routine, he has every chance at a long, healthy life. He would thrive with: A knowledgeable Australian Shepherd or herding‑breed adopter A fenced yard Respectful dog companions (if any) Plenty of exercise, enrichment, and mental stimulation A calm, confident handler who can give him structure Rue is located in Windsor, VA, but he can be transported to a loving adoptive home—a transport fee may apply depending on distance. Rue is a truly exceptional dog with enormous potential in the right hands. He’s loyal, smart, eager to learn, and deeply bonded to his people once he trusts them. For the right adopter, he’s worth his weight in gold. His adoption fee is $500. If you’re ready to give Rue the active, structured, and loving home he deserves, he’s ready to give you his whole heart in return.

Story
Meet Jerry, a 5-year-old Australian Shepherd mix with a gentle heart and an adventurous spirit. He’s a sweet, cuddly boy who wants nothing more than to join his people on long walks, weekend adventures, and of course, car rides—he absolutely loves hopping in the car and going wherever the road leads. Jerry also enjoys meeting new people and is happy to soak up attention from new friends. When the day winds down, he’s perfectly content being a couch potato and relaxing by your side.Jerry would do best in a home with older children who can respect his space. He prefers the company of larger dogs, and slow, thoughtful introductions are important to help him feel comfortable with new canine companions. He does not enjoy cats and is looking for a feline-free home. With the right match, Jerry will be a loyal, loving companion ready for both adventure and cozy nights in.

Story
Meet Marielle — the quiet spark with the soulful eyes and the heart just waiting to shine. Born on December 4th, this stunning Aussie mix girl is the perfect blend of softness and spirit. At first glance, you’ll notice her gentle, observant nature. She’s the kind of puppy who studies you carefully, tilts her head just slightly, and takes a moment to decide if you’re “her person.” But once she does? Game over. You belong to her forever.  Marielle isn’t the life-of-the-party puppy crashing through the room — she’s the one who forms deep, meaningful bonds. She thrives in a home where love is steady and predictable. A loud, chaotic household with lots of tiny, fast-moving humans may feel overwhelming to her sensitive soul. But a family with a couple of older, kind-hearted kids who understand patience? That would be her sweet spot. In her foster home, Marielle enjoys the company of other dogs and clearly gains confidence from them. A friendly canine sibling could be the perfect role model and built-in best friend. She hasn’t met cats yet, but her calm, thoughtful personality suggests she would likely adapt just fine with slow introductions and guidance. When fully grown, Marielle should be around 40 pounds — a wonderful medium size that’s big enough for outdoor adventures and small enough to curl up in your lap when she thinks you’re not looking. And trust us, she will try to curl up in your lap. This precious girl doesn’t need the whole world. She just needs her world — a patient heart, a cozy spot to land, and someone willing to see the beauty in a shy beginning. Give her that, and you’ll watch her blossom into the most loyal, loving companion you could ever imagine.   Please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com if you are interested.  She is currently fostered in Nashville, TN and we adopt locally and also transport to the northeastern region/states.        PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMarch 7, 2026, 12:24 pm

Story
“Otis the Adventurer”  Otis is a handsome 3-year-old Aussie mix with a sweet heart and a curious spirit. We know his mom was an Australian Shepherd, and while Dad remains a mystery, Otis definitely inherited the intelligence and loyalty that make this breed so special. At around 45–50 pounds, he’s the perfect medium-sized companion.  Otis is the kind of dog who makes living with a dog easy. He is house trained, well-mannered, and respectful as he lives inside the home—no chewing furniture, stealing food, or getting into trouble. He’s calm for an Aussie, incredibly sweet-natured, and great with kids. He’s the kind of dog who just wants to be part of the family and enjoy life alongside his people. He also gets along very well with other dogs, so he would likely thrive in a home with a canine buddy to share adventures with.  Recently after moving from his previous home, he found himself living without a privacy fenced yard.  Otis does have one little quirk—he’s an explorer at heart. If given the opportunity, he’d happily set off to see what the world has to offer! Because of that adventurous streak, a privacy fenced yard is important to keep him safe while he enjoys his outdoor time.  Currently he gets out of the non-privacy fenced yard and it is dangerous for him.  His family is worried but they cannot afford to do the proper fencing that he needs.  So.....they asked Critter Cavalry Rescue to help them find him a safe and secure home with the inescapable fence.        We are just looking for the home that Otis can thrive in safely.  Otis is a well-mannered dog just looking for a home where he can be loved, included, and kept safe while still enjoying the fresh air and sunshine he loves. In return, you’ll get a loyal, gentle, well-behaved companion who will happily spend his days by your side.  We think he is the best choice for a family not wanting a puppy who is in the chewing and puppy antic stage of life.  If you’re looking for a sweet, easygoing dog with a little adventurous spirit, Otis may be the perfect match.   Please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com   Tell us where you live, city and state.  We adopt to Tennessee residents, where our rescue is based and we have a transport company that takes adopted dogs to the northeastern region to adopting families almost every weekend.  Please let us know where you live when asking about Otis.       PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMarch 8, 2026, 9:04 pm

Story
Tink’s story didn’t begin the way any young dog’s should — but we believe her best chapter is still waiting to be written very soon now that she is in the care of Critter Cavalry Rescue.  At just two years old, this striking blue-eyed Australian Shepherd girl has already experienced motherhood and heartbreak. She gave birth to a litter of puppies on Thanksgiving Day, nurturing them with devotion. But by Valentine’s weekend, her own world changed. When her owner suffered a stroke and was hospitalized in ICU, Tink was left confined inside a camper for four long days, alone and unsure. It would be understandable if that experience made her fearful or withdrawn. Instead, Tink emerged gentle, loving, and incredibly devoted to people. Currently weighing 38 pounds (and needing about five more to reach her ideal weight), Tink is a petite Aussie with a soft and gentle temperament and a playful streak. She absolutely adores children and has a naturally sweet, careful way about her. She loves playing fetch, going on walks, and burning off her energy in a securely fenced yard — which is a must for this active, intelligent breed.   Tink is mostly housebroken and simply needs the consistency of a routine. She does well in a crate and walks nicely on leash. We are currently evaluating her with other submissive dogs, as a recent attempt to pair her with a strong alpha female was not a good fit — which is understandable after all she’s been through. She may truly shine as the center of someone’s world. Tink has proven she is resilient. She has proven she is loving. Now she just needs someone who will prove to her that she will never be left behind again. If you feel your home might be the safe and steady future this beautiful girl deserves, please email Critter Cavalry at ccrtennessee@gmail.com and tell us your city and state. Tink is ready to begin again — this time, forever.

Story
It’s hard to imagine how confusing and lonely life must feel in a small, noisy shelter in the middle of nowhere. For six long months, Barbie waited in a tiny kennel in rural New Mexico, not knowing what tomorrow would bring.   Then hope showed up in the most unexpected way.   A kindhearted woman who drives a 40-foot tractor trailer for a living learned about Barbie and her companion Kenny. In the middle of her route, she stopped, loaded them up, and refused to let their story end there. Thanks to her determination — and the helping hands at Critter Cavalry Rescue — Barbie finally got her second chance.   Barbie is a 3-year-old, 46-pound fluffy Border Collie mix with a heart as soft as her coat. At the vet’s office, she won everyone over with her affectionate, gentle nature. She simply wants to be close to her people — soaking up every bit of love she missed while waiting in that shelter run.   After her first grooming, she pranced around like she knew she was beautiful — clean, brushed, and finally feeling special. And she is special.   Barbie does well with other dogs her size, though smaller pups may trigger her “squirrel radar.” Mostly, she just wants a home where she can belong — a person or family to love deeply and faithfully. She will happily learn your routines, follow your lead, and repay you every day with devotion and joy.   Barbie has waited long enough. Now it’s her turn to be someone’s everything.   Interested?
