Meet Cora! Cora is a beautiful 3-year-old Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix with a loving heart, an athletic spirit, and so much affection to give.Cora came to us through no fault of her own. Her elderly owner loved her deeply and was heartbroken to leave her with us. The problem was chickens. Cora found the nearby chickens far too exciting, and her owner needed some help teaching her to leave them alone. Unfortunately, there simply wasn't anyone available with the time to help him work through it. Without that support, keeping Cora was no longer something he could manage.So now this very loved girl is looking for a new family.Cora is incredibly sweet and affectionate. Give her your attention and a little kindness, and that's really all she wants. She enjoys being close to people and has the kind of loving nature that makes it very easy to imagine her becoming someone's devoted companion.She's also an athletic girl who would be a wonderful match for someone who enjoys getting outside and doing things with their dog. Cora shows a lot of interest in hopping in the car and going for a ride, and we have a feeling she'd be pretty happy to discover that sometimes getting in the car means an adventure with her favorite people.Cora is house trained, walks well on leash, has done well with dogs, cats, children, and seniors, and has a nice medium energy level. Chickens, however, need to be off the roommate list. Because exciting things can tempt her to chase, we also think a securely fenced yard would be best while she learns the routines and boundaries of her new home.Cora didn't lose her home because she wasn't loved. In fact, quite the opposite. She came to us because someone who loved her had to make an incredibly difficult decision when he could no longer give her what she needed.Now we'd love to see her find a family who can give this sweet, beautiful girl all the attention, activity, companionship, and love she's ready to give right back.Cora truly is a special girl, and we have a feeling she's going to steal the hearts of the family lucky enough to call her their own.Please call 307-883-PETS to learn more about Cora or schedule a visit.
