Story
Mettler is living in a foster home in Madison, Wisconsin.
English bulldogs require a lot of attention and care daily which is why several end up with our Houston rescue partner, Lola's Lucky Day. The good news is they are very experienced with this breed and made sure to get him all the vetting needed to be happy and healthy. After visiting the vet with the rescue, it was determined that Mettler needed entropian surgery in both eyes. The rescue scheduled this surgery while he was still in Texas. He also has skin allergy issues due to skin infections and needs some injections and two pills a day. The rescue is looking for an adopter who is committed to maintaining the vet care needed for Mettler to continue to live a healthy lifestyle. His adopter must have an excellent vet check and experience with bulldog breeds.
The Houston rescue who saved him said that Mettler is extremely high maintenance as he needs someone willing to be able to commit to cleaning eyes, ears, wrinkle folds, eye crevasses, tail pocket, and medicating his nose with Vaseline on a daily basis. He also requires medicated baths. He is good with other dogs, does well with respectful children, enjoys walks, and likes pets and getting attention. He can be bulldog stubborn.

Our rescue adopts to Wisconsin and Illinois. Our requirements for Illinois applications are: excellent vet history, no children under 7 in the home, and an owned home. Wisconsin does not have these requirements, though we will not consider applications where pets are missing core veterinary care.
Our process includes an approved application, reference checks, a homevisit, and once
approved a meet and greet with the dog. Adoption fee is $250.
