I'm a redneck woman I ain't no high class broad I'm just a product of my raising I say, "hey y'all" and "yee-haw" - Gretchen Wilson "Redneck Woman" Meet our redneck woman, Sweet Tater aka Sweet Tayda when she's in the city! Tayda is a 10 year old beer slinging, foul mouthed country gal who weighs about 70 pounds and won't stop blasting the Gretchen Wilson tunes on her CD player. Foster moms about to take that away! Tayda found herself in a city shelter and just couldn't mold and be lady that adopters wanted her to be. She tried to eat their cats and even them if they tried to pry the deep fried oreo out of her mouth! Knowing that Augusta Dog Adoptions has a reputation of being just as wild and unchained as Tayda, they asked it we could help her right before they were about send her to meet her sweet, Lord Jesus. Amen. Since joining us, we've let Sweet Tayda be herself. She eats about anything she wants and gets stuffed toys to relive out her old hunting days tearing them to bits! And she keeps her Christmas lights on, on her front porch all year long and she knows every word to every Tanya Tucker song! Tayda is looking for a true hound lover who understands that she is what she is. You aren't going to train the naughty out of her and you aren't going to force her to being something she is not. What she is is funny, happy, friendly and glad to be alive! She's happy sleeping in her doghouse with a full belly but we have hope that we can find her a real home where is can be a part of a family! ... A family with no cats and no kids to steal her chicken nuggets. She'd love to be the only dog but has been able to tolerate another old hound who is more of a redneck that she is. That's Laith. And we'll be happy to send him with her! Keep hope alive! Homes for all bad hounds! Yeah! We take applications online and schedule adoptions in Waynesboro, VA. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue but Sweet Tayda's adoption fee has been waived in hopes of helping her find a home. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries. Meet the wonderful Betsy, also known as Shay! This coonhound had a challenging start, found as a stray and severely emaciated. Local Animal Control stepped in, and she was transferred to our rescue, where she underwent a transformative journey. Placed on a feeding schedule, Betsy was gradually nursed back to a healthier weight and brighter spirits. Betsy has received thorough veterinary care, updated vaccines, a microchip, and is now ready for spaying. Despite her quirks and the need for some patience with manners, Betsy is a love bug. She's in the process of learning house training, using pee pads for now. Betsy has a unique pre-pooping routine-jumping several times before doing her business. Although it seems like she may not have experienced life indoors before, she's an awesome dog yearning for unconditional love and continued guidance. Dog-friendly, cat-friendly, and people-friendly of all ages, Betsy is a social sweetheart. While she loves to run, typical of coonhounds, a fenced area for exercise is essential. Betsy is learning leash walking and responds better with a companion canine. Playful, treat-motivated, and trainable, she's a smart pup eager to please. Scheduled for spaying in January 2023, Betsy is microchipped, heartworm-negative, and on monthly preventative measures. A favorite at the rescue, she awaits a forever family committed to providing the love and care she deserves.
