Story
Meet Winnie! Winnie ended up in a rural shelter with more dogs than adopters and boy, is she lucky to be with us! Both Winnie and a dog named Minnie were at risk of being put to sleep. I misread their message that Minnie was safe and almost didn't pull Winnie! What a close call! When Winnie arrived to us it was easy to see that she hadn't had the best life. She was skinny, her coat was dirty and dull and she wasn't sure who to trust. We are happy to report that Winnie has quickly settled into her foster home. She is great with all the other dogs and enjoys the kids. She is house trained and crate trained but isn't above doing a little counter surfing when you're not looking! Winnie is still a bit timid and will take some time to become comfortable in her new home. She sometimes puts herself in her open crate to escape the hustle and bustle. She also enjoys napping on the couch and savoring the peace that comes with being in a safe and loving home! Hounds have it hard! We are so happy that we could make a difference for this one! If you can be the furEVER home Winnie needs, let us know. Augusta Dog Adoptions is a 501c3, foster-based rescue. We take applications online and schedule adoptions in Waynesboro, VA. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries. Story
Jody is an 8-year-old Treeing Walker Hound mix with a story that will tug at your heart—and a spirit that continues to shine. After enduring a life of hardship, including abuse and burns to his snout, Jody arrived at our rescue with a gentle soul and a strong will to love. His scars have healed, and his one-of-a-kind face is just as unique as the love he has to offer. Despite his past, Jody is nothing short of a sweetheart. He adores people and other animals, and his goofy, treat-loving personality brings smiles to everyone he meets. He’s embraced the comforts of indoor life after spending most of his years outside—and now, he's a professional napper and certified couch potato. Jody recently spent time in a foster home where his foster mom described him as incredibly sweet and affectionate. However, due to his late start in experiencing love and security, he does have some separation anxiety and will try to find his way back to his person when left alone. He wasn’t neutered until later in life, so he still has a tendency to mark indoors—his foster managed this easily with belly bands. We believe Jody would thrive in a calm home with a retired individual or couple who can spend most of the day with him, helping him continue to adjust to indoor life and gently work through his anxiety. Patience, time, and a lot of treats will go a long way with this good boy. Jody is neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. He’s ready for his forever home—one filled with love, soft beds, and plenty of snacks. If you're looking for a loyal, loving companion to spend your days with, Jody is ready to be your shadow and best friend in his golden years. 🐾 🐾 Ready to Adopt? Here's How! The first step in our adoption process is submitting an application through our website. Simply visit: https://www.hoovesandpaws.org/shelterluv.html, click on the pet’s photo to view their full bio, then click “Apply for Adoption” to get started. Please give us a few days to review your application. If approved, you’ll receive an email from adoptions@hoovesandpaws.org to schedule a meet and greet (including any necessary dog-to-dog introductions). If the meet and greet goes well and you’d like to move forward, we’ll schedule a home check—this means we’ll bring your new furry friend to your home ourselves. This helps ensure a smooth transition and gives your new pup a familiar face upon arrival. We’ll finalize the adoption at that time! Questions, comments, or concerns? Reach out to us anytime at adoptions@hoovesandpaws.org. We're here to help!

Story
Hi there, I'm Flash! My days are filled with fun and frolics. I'm always up for a game, but I'm also a pro at chilling out. I've got a heart full of sweetness and a head full of smarts. I'm the kind of guy who loves to snuggle up after a day of play. Other dogs are my pals, and I've never met a human I didn't like. I'm gentle, mellow, and have a disposition as sweet as honey. Adopting me means endless love, joy, and a loyal companion who will always be by your side. This pet is eligible for the PETS FOR PATRIOTS adoption program. Adoption Process If you are ready to meet the pet, please fill out an online adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your internet browser: https://www.petstablished.com/adoption_form/10666/generic Once your application is submitted, we will contact the vet reference provided. If you do not yet have a vet, please provide three personal references – these could be family and friends who can attest to your pet parenting skills. A volunteer will schedule a phone interview with you. The interview and application help our fosters find their forever home by ensuring a good match.   The Louisa Humane Society does not have a brick and mortar facility, so all of our pets are in foster care. Once approved, the foster parent will reach out to arrange a visit. The foster family can tell you all about her likes, dislikes, and little quirks.  The application and visit do not oblige you to adopt, but if you’re ready to take the pet home as your furry forever friend, the adoption fee is $150. ##2226659##

Story
Today we have Ollie, a young strapping man who LOVES kids and other dogs of all sizes.  One of those guys who doesn't know exactly how big he is but makes up for his clumsiness in cuddles.  Great a helping clean the kitchen counters and floor (food driven) or training others to keep them clean, enjoys laundry day (warm towels and sheets are the best), is even a great singer!  Ollie will greet you slippers in mouth when you get home, maybe a blanket some days.  Don't let this sweetie pie get away!
