This sweet, timid girl was surrendered to ADA because she wold not hunt and the people didn't have any use for her. When she came to us, she was renamed Riley but she has been renamed Annie. She knows her name. Annie is about a 3 year old redtick. She is on the smaller side weighing maybe 30 pounds. She is very timid with new people. She doesn't have a mean bone in her body, but it takes her a while to warm up to you. She is doing great in her foster home and getting used to being an inside dog and being able to move around the house freely and go in and out whenever she wants. She sleeps in the bed with her foster mom and other dogs. She has had zero accidents in either of her fosters homes and doesn't bother anything. She has free roam of the house. It will take her a while to get used to a new place and new people, so someone who has lots of love, time, and patience would make a great home for her. She absolutely LOVES going for walks. Her foster mom walks her every day to the park and around it and she is so happy on those walks. She also goes to the dog park and is super happy around other dogs. She would do best in a home with at least one other playfull confident dog so she can continue to learn how to be a dog. She also would need a securely fenced in yard. The ideal home would have someone who would continue to walk her daily and take her to a dog park (not necessary) where she is her happiest. She is a totally different dog when she goes for walks and is out and about. She is available with a pre-approved application. Augusta Dog Adoptions is a 501c3, foster-based rescue. We take applications online and schedule adoptions in Waynesboro, VA. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries. Allie appears to be around 3 years of age and is in good health. She was surrendered to the county pound due to her owner passing away. She was raising 4 puppies when Bedford Humane took her into foster care. All the puppies have found forever homes and now it is Allie's time. She has learned it is okay to be crated and is house trained. Allie lived with other hound breeds and is now in foster care with another dog. Allie gets excited when let out of her crate, therefore you must be quick to get her outside to potty. She does the zoomies in a fenced yard and plays by herself very well. Allie has met a young child and is a little leery about the high pitched voice. She shows no bad behavior, just stays away. She is very interested in cats, therefore it might be best to have a no cat home. Allie would be a great hiker and a running partner. At the end of the day she has lots of love to give someone. Allie has been dewormed, microchipped, vaccinated, tested for heartworms, is on heartworm preventative, and is spayed.
