Story
Homer is a high-energy hound and one of the sweetest and most affectionate dogs you’ll ever meet. He needs time and space to run around, then he’ll be happy napping on a dog bed - or ideally, your lap - once he’s given his nose and legs a workout. He is good with other dogs and a velcro dog with his human. Homer is a favorite among the counselors at doggie day care and well-known at the dog park, where he does not stop running or baying  – and the other dogs follow.  He’s a quick learner/treat-motivated  and picked up “sit” right away. He does not bark much in the house. He will bark on walks and at the park, but he’s learning “quiet” and some leash training to help with pulling. He is house-trained, fine being crated, and loves a car ride where he can stick his nose out of the window and take in all of the smells.  The main thing is that Homer needs a yard or lots of opportunity to work off his energy, which we do not have. If you’re able to give him that, then you’ve got a wonderful companion and new best friend! He is 2-3 years old, neutered, HW - negative, and up to date on all shots (including flu vaccine required by some doggie day cares). Adoption Process If you are ready to meet the pet, please fill out an online adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your internet browser: https://www.petstablished.com/adoption_form/10666/generic Once your application is submitted, we will contact the vet reference provided. If you do not yet have a vet, please provide three personal references – these could be family and friends who can attest to your pet parenting skills. A volunteer will schedule a phone interview with you. The interview and application help our fosters find their forever home by ensuring a good match.   The Louisa Humane Society does not have a brick and mortar facility, so all of our pets are in foster care. Once approved, the foster parent will reach out to arrange a visit. The foster family can tell you all about her likes, dislikes, and little quirks.  The application and visit do not oblige you to adopt, but if you’re ready to take the pet home as your furry forever friend, the adoption fee is $150. Should the match turn out less than perfect, or if you are unwilling or unable to care for an adopted animal, the Louisa Humane Society will take the animal back into our care. ##1672518##

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Look at this cutie! This little nugget is 7-8 months old, and according to a DNA test on another sibling it looks like she is 50% Tree Walking Coonhound, 10% Mountain Cur, 10% Norwegian Elk hound and 10% other. As with any puppy, she has plenty of energy so a fenced yard is required which will allow her to work off that energy and be safe. As a Coonhound, she does have a prey drive so a home without cats is needed. Magnolia would benefit greatly from a home that has a younger dog for her to play with. Magnolia is current on all vaccines and preventatives, and she is spayed and microchipped. If interested in her, please submit an online application at henricohumane.org or come visit with her at our adoption stand, which is held every Saturday at the Short Pump Petco from 11 to 2 (except around major holidays). For further questions about her you can send an email to dogs@henricohumane.org.

PRETZEL Sweet adorable goofy middle aged Coonhound, Pretzel, was recently rescued SKINNY, Heartworm and Tick Disease positive. She has been treated for all, spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. She has shown that she has pretty good indoor manners. She walks nicely on a leash. She loves everyone and everything. She will destroy a tennis ball. She wants so badly to be someone's loved companion. She was probably born in 2015 or 2016 and is now a healthy, shiny, beautiful 62 pounds. If you might be the person or family for Pretzel, please email trampsrescue@yahoo.com or text 804-248-3042. Thanks.

Story
Daisy is a sweet, beautiful ball of fluff and most days is a couch "puptato" at her current home . She was rescued six years ago as a very young puppy and (thanks to a DNA test and meeting siblings) we know she is part Treeing Walker Coonhound, part Bluetick Coonhound, part Collie, and part Great Pyrenees. She currently weighs 93 pounds. Daisy engages well with adults but can be food-motivated and protective, so it's important that she be separated when food is out and away from younger children and dogs as they can make her nervous. It's best that she be adopted by a household with no children or pets where she can be the center of attention. Bonus points for a large yard with a high fence, so she can stretch her legs, run, fetch, and chase squirrels. She is a good leash walker, but eager at times. Daisy will also sit and shake for treats. Once she gets to know someone, she is very affectionate and will quickly work her way into your heart. Please reach out to learn more!
