Story
Meet Hazel, a truly special girl with both beauty and brilliance wrapped into one stunning package. This gorgeous 2-year-old, 75-pound English Shepherd mix was found as a stray in a neighborhood, and sadly, no one ever came looking for her. Their loss is about to be someone else’s greatest gift.   Hazel is a head-turner with her soft, long fur and graceful presence — but it’s her spirit that really shines. She’s full of joyful, puppy-like energy and loves nothing more than zooming around the yard with a toy proudly carried in her mouth. Watching her play is pure happiness.   This girl is incredibly intelligent, the kind of dog who thrives when given guidance and purpose. She wants to learn, wants to grow, and has all the potential to become the confident, well-trained QUEEN she was meant to be. Training her won’t feel like work — it will feel like bonding.   Hazel is crate trained, housebroken, wonderful with cats, great with other dogs, and loves people of all ages. She’s looking for a home with a fenced yard and a family who appreciates larger breeds and enjoys helping a smart dog reach her full potential.   Hazel is a diamond in the rough — loyal, loving, and ready to shine. If you’re looking for a dog who will grow with your family and reward you tenfold, Hazel may be your perfect match.   Please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com.   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comJanuary 12, 2026, 9:57 am

Story
Hi, my name is Prancer.  I was not left behind by Santa Claus.   I got my name from the way I run.  I don’t really run, I prance around.  It just makes you smile to watch me.  I am a wonderful little guy who loves life.  I am always happy.  My foster mom says I am happy no matter what and sometimes oblivious because of my happiness.  There is a doggie door to her deck.  My favorite game is to run around the den, through the kitchen, out the doggie door, and around the yard.  Then back in.  Each time I check to make sure my foster mom is still there.  Sometimes I am actually able to persuade a couple of my foster brothers to join me.  We have a blast.  I am not sure my foster mom has the same amount of fun.  But....we keep it up until it is time to take a nap. I have fit in great here and get along well with the other doggies, even the grouchy old men!  Again, I am oblivious to their opinion of me.  I am housebroken and crate-trained.  I know to go to my crate when treats are given out.  I also eat my breakfast and dinner in my crate.   I was originally living with a senior lady.  Unfortunately, we were not a good match.  As soon as Critter Cavalry learned of my dilemma, I was placed in a more suitable home.  I am happy to hang out here until I find my forever home.   I would love a home with an active family that will take me places with them.  I am learning to walk on a leash so I can go walking and maybe even hiking with you.  If you are into agility, I am your man.  As you have already read, I am actively practicing my skills.  I would also be a great companion for a family with older children.  As an Australian Shepherd mix, I am an active boy who needs a job.  A fenced-in yard is also a must for me.   Prancer is neutered, up to date on shots, heartworm negative, and microchipped. To apply or learn more, email Vivienne at vivienneajames@gmail.com. (He is in Tennessee and can be transported north after adoption. Approved application and fee required.)      January 13, 2026, 6:14 pm

Story
Rockstar Ms. Riley Ray didn’t get her name by accident — she earned it with heart, resilience, and a spirit that refuses to fade. This stunning 8-year-old purebred Border Collie has lived a life that didn’t quite match the energy she was born with. Adopted as a puppy by a loving older couple, Riley grew up surrounded by affection but very little structure. Long days indoors, extra bites of fast food and table scraps, and almost no exercise slowly took a toll. By the time her elderly parents entered nursing care, Riley had reached an unhealthy 81 pounds — a heavy weight for a dog meant to run free. Critter Cavalry Rescue stepped in and promised Riley and the family that her story wouldn’t end there. Since arriving, she has begun her comeback tour. Beneath the extra pounds is the bright, athletic, ball-obsessed girl she was always meant to be. Riley lives for fetch. The moment a ball appears, her eyes light up and her whole body comes alive. It’s as if she’s saying, “This is who I really am.” She is affectionate, loyal, incredibly smart, and still has so much joy and drive left to give. Riley is searching for an active home that understands Border Collies and will help her continue her health journey. She doesn’t want to sit on the sidelines anymore — she wants to run, chase, play, and finally live the life her breed was built for. Her past may have slowed her down, but it never dimmed her spark. Now she’s ready for the next chapter, one filled with movement, purpose, and a human who will see the Rockstar she truly is.  Contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com if you are interested PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comJanuary 19, 2026, 6:56 pm

Story
Tommy came from a high kill shelter in TX, where not many get out of. We saw pictures of him and thought what a stunning dog. Tommy is a typical herding dog and will stay right by your side. He loves to run and play and very smart. He would love a fenced in yard to play with a buddy. He loves walks around the neighborhood with his foster family. He does get a bit scared when cars go by and is learning they are not going to get him. He does not pull on a leash. Very sweet dog. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out as the foster mum would love to tell you more. If you are interested in this handsome fellow please email us at Doginghamrescue@aol.com so we can send you an application. We are based in the Nashville, TN area and have most of our dogs transported up north. The $450 includes the adoption and transport fee (will have a health certificate too). The transport fee is not refundable if things do not work out.
