Story
We adopted Oscar at 11 weeks from a breeder in Virginia. He is now 4.5 years old and has been with us the entire time. He’s a great family dog - very affectionate, smart, likes to cuddle, good with little kids, can be active, but can also just chill (if allowed, he'll sleep all day). He is protective, however, when it comes to unfamiliar adults and since we live in the city, it is hard to keep him separated from new people arriving at our small home or even walking on the sidewalk. He would do well outside the city with a family or just anyone who needs a funny, affectionate dog, but lives somewhere where he doesn’t need to interact with new people.

Story
Tommy came from a high kill shelter in TX, where not many get out of. We saw pictures of him and thought what a stunning dog. Tommy is a typical herding dog and will stay right by your side. He loves to run and play and very smart. He would love a fenced in yard to play with a buddy. He loves walks around the neighborhood with his foster family. He does get a bit scared when cars go by and is learning they are not going to get him. He does not pull on a leash. Very sweet dog. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out as the foster mum would love to tell you more. If you are interested in this handsome fellow please email us at Doginghamrescue@aol.com so we can send you an application. We are based in the Nashville, TN area and have most of our dogs transported up north. The $450 includes the adoption and transport fee (will have a health certificate too). The transport fee is not refundable if things do not work out.

Story
Hi, my name is Zara! I am a beautiful gray and white 3-year-old Australian Shepherd Poodle mix. While ladies typically don’t disclose their weight, I am about 50 lbs. If you are a smart and active person or couple looking to adopt a dog with a similar temperament, then we could be a great match! I love going for walks and would appreciate having someone who can incorporate that into my daily routine. Getting outside for exercise is something I enjoy, and I would also make an excellent running companion. Visiting the park or going on hikes would be a lot of fun, too! Not to brag, but I believe I'm quite a looker, and I’m confident that if you took me to the park, we would make lots of friends together. While I love people, I am not used to being around other dogs, so a dog park wouldn’t be suitable for me. However, I’m always up for hanging out where the people are! I’m also a bit too energetic for young children; I sometimes forget that I'm bigger than they are and might accidentally knock them over. It would be wonderful if someone in the household could work from home, as I am crate-trained but don't like spending long hours alone. I thrive on human interaction and am seeking a loving home.  I promise to return your love! If you would like to be considered for my forever family, please contact Vivienne at vivienneajames@gmail.com. Please note that an approved application and adoption fee are required.   Meet Miss Kitty – A Heart Ready to Bloom   Miss Kitty’s story is one of transformation, hope, and quiet bravery. This stunning 2-year-old Aussie mix (around 70 lbs) was once part of a large group of neglected dogs—left without love, attention, or hugs daily.  The days of indifference from humans are long behind her. With the help of a kind foster home, Miss Kitty has discovered the beauty of human kindness, human touch and now she’s ready to find a forever family of her own.  In just two months, she’s blossomed from a shy, uncertain girl into a dog who seeks out affection and enjoys the company of people—especially children, who she now happily follows with her tail wagging. She’s gentle with dogs of all sizes and loves running and playing with her friends in open spaces. Cats are still a mystery to her, but she’s learned to coexist respectfully.Miss Kitty is still gaining confidence with new experiences—like walking on a leash and spending time indoors—but her courage grows every day. She’s curious, sweet, and has a heart that’s learning to trust completely. With a little patience and a lot of love, this beautiful girl will reward her forever family with endless devotion and loyalty. If you’re looking to make a difference in a dog’s life and watch a soul truly bloom, Miss Kitty is waiting for you.  Contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com to meet Miss Kitty today!   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comNovember 18, 2025, 4:58 pm

Story
Stella is a friendly and intelligent dog with plenty of energy. We want her to be happy and have a space where she can run around and play with other dogs. Previously, Stella lived in the mountains of Colorado, where she enjoyed a large fenced yard and had lots of friends to play with. Now, she is living in a townhouse without a yard, which has been challenging for her. As a very active young lady, she is currently feeling unhappy. Stella is a mix of Australian Cattle Dog, Husky, German Shepherd, and Golden Retriever, and she is expected to weigh around 30 pounds. She is a loving and eager-to-learn dog who picks up new skills quickly. Stella would be an amazing agility dog, as this would engage both her mind and her need for physical activity. If agility training isn't your interest, she would also thrive in an active lifestyle with an avid walker, hiker, or runner.  Stella is a very quick learner and was immediately fully potty trained.     To ensure the best for Stella, her new owners should have a yard or live on a farm, and it would be great if they have another dog and children.  Stella has plenty of energy to add playing at home to her list of activities.    Stella has been spayed and is current on all her shots until May 2026.  To be considered for her forever family and to request an application please contact Vivienne at vivienneajames@gmail.com.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (Stella is currently in Tennessee and can be transported north upon adoption.)  July 30, 2025, 9:47 pm

Story
Male, 8.5 years old, 60 pounds Personality: good running partner, snuggler, playful, smart, adaptable, goofy/funny, outgoing, independent, energetic, and affectionate. Corey is an easygoing, goofy boy who’s the perfect mix of affectionate and independent. He loves cuddles and belly rubs but is also happy to relax on the couch or in his crate when you’re busy. This smart pup is house trained and crate trained, though he’s trusted home alone uncrated. Corey enjoys walks with plenty of sniffing and will keep a good pace if you are up for a run, but he really thrives on mental stimulation. He is incredibly smart and trainable — he has a long repertoire of words (including “stay,” “go to your crate,” “bring it,” and “give kisses”) and is quick to pick up new ones. He is also a "talker": If he needs to go out, thinks it’s dinner time, or wants his ball, he will let you know. And when he gets his favorite ball, he might even let out a happy little growl of satisfaction. If you are looking for a loving, clever dog who will make you laugh and be a great adventure buddy, Corey could be your perfect match. Story
Please contact Courtney Nobles (courtneyn@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.young boy ready to play! FLY NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!   Come meet Fly and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (11/16) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Falls Church, VA (6100 - A Arlington Blvd, Falls Church, VA 22044)!     Name:  Fly          Best Guess for Breed:  Border collie mix   Best Guess for Age: 1.5 years as of August 2025       SEX:    Male   Approximate Weight:  39 lbs   Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen him with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at:  DC area foster home.   Fly is Looking For:   His forever family! This dog is a herding breed mix, and those dogs can run quite a bit. Fly might need a lot of  just that - activity. Mere daily walks and/or time in the yard won't be enough. He is looking for more mental stimulation and enrichment. He told us he would love an opportunity to be one of those sporty dogs who does advanced obedience training, agility, or nose work! But he also wants down time and a cushy dog bed and snuggles after a fun day together! This awesome pup will be a great addition to an active home. What do you say? Is Fly the one who can keep up with you?   What My Foster Says About Me: Fly continues doing well with me! He is energetic and fun-loving, but well-behaved. He loves meeting people during our walks; he gets especially excited when he sees women and kids. He likes men too and doesn't show any fear or hesitation, but he absolutely lights up when he sees women (he’s a real ladies man). He has also made quite a few dog friends in my neighborhood! His favorite dogs are about his size,  like to play and have a lot of energy like him.   I take him to the dog park regularly, where he burns off a lot of his energy. He is definitely a border collie who sometimes tries to herd other dogs that aren’t playing, but we’re working on the engage/disengage game and he's responding pretty well! He's generally great with other dogs, if he gets impatient and his herding instincts kick in, it’s just time for a break.  He likes to stay close to me at home, but as he’s settled in he’s slowly giving me a little more space and trusting that I’m still there even if I’m in another room. He continues being very well behaved at home and has not destroyed anything. He only plays with and chews on his toys. He's an amazing dog, very smart, very athletic, and incredibly affectionate. He will be a great addition to any active family looking for an adventure buddy. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter.
