Story
Meet WONDERFUL! Wonderful is a gorgeous 8 month old, 45 pound, tricolored (black, white and brown) English Shepherd/Hound mix. Her freckled nose, sleek lanky frame, rich black and very white coat, and thick black tail with its white tip add to her beautiful looks. She is very sweet and lovable and is crate trained. While Wonderful has puppy playfulness, she settles down to cuddle with you and hang out. She does fine with other dogs and people of all ages! Wonderful loves to go for walks! She will need exercise, patience and reinforcement of basic training so this young smart dog can become the well-behaved dog she can be. Wonderful ended up at a rural North Carolina shelter, and we can only imagine how she wondered why her family did not come find her and take her home. She is so happy that PetConnect has come to her rescue and brought her to the DC area to find a forever family that will give her the attention that she deserves. Wonderful would love to curl up with you to hang out on a cool spring night! She would be an excellent new member of the active family! ***Please note that the first step is to fill out an application (It does not commit you in anyway but allows us to discuss with you if you and the dog are a good fit). In addition, an important step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a vet check to ensure that your current and previous pet(s) are kept up to date on vaccines (including rabies ), spayed or neutered, maintained on appropriate monthly preventatives and examined annually by your vet.*** Wonderful is spayed and up-to-date on vaccines. The adoption fee for this dog is $425 which includes routine vetting and spay/neuter. PetConnect Rescue cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and the general appearance of the animal at the time they enter our system. For more information, please email Robin at rturner @petconnectrescue.org or kinstondogs@verizon.net **If you're viewing this on Petfinder, please visit www.petconnectrescue.org to complete our non-binding application.**

Story
Meet Thor! *ADOPTION FEE WAIVED*Thor is a 1-year-6-month-old Border Collie mix who came to us as an owner surrender. This handsome boy has a big heart, a loyal nature, and a bright future ahead of him.Thor originally struggled with resource guarding and attachment-based behaviors.– Resource guarding means he may feel the need to protect items he values (like toys or food).– Attachment-based behavior means he bonds strongly to “his person” and can become anxious or protective in certain situations. Our team has been working closely with Thor, and he has made amazing progress. He is young, eager to learn, and very responsive to training. To set him up for success, we recommend a home with no small children or a single, committed adopter who can continue building his confidence and consistency. Ongoing training will help Thor continue thriving.Thor walks beautifully on a leash, knows basic commands, and loves staying close to his person. He is sweet, affectionate, and truly wants to please. Once he bonds with you, he will be your loyal shadow and adventure buddy.Thor is ready for someone who can give him structure, patience, and love—could that be you?Approx 52 poundsIf you are interested in meeting Thor, please visit the shelter during open adoption hours:Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday: 10 AM–12:30 PM & 2 PM–4 PMThursday: 10 AM–12:30 PM & 2 PM–6:30 PMSaturday: 9 AM–1 PMIf you do not own your home, please bring written consent from the property owner allowing a dog on the property.Adoption fees:6 months and younger: $2507 months–5 years: $2006–10 years: $15011 years and older: $100Watch for adoption specials! If you are a rescue partner interested in pulling Thor, please email ksprecher@carrollcountymd.gov.To foster Thor, please email ksprecher@carrollcountymd.gov.

Story
**Meet Thorne** 🐾💛 An active, social boy who loves his people and is always ready for the next adventure. He’s house trained, crate trained, knows **sit and down**, does well for baths, enjoys being brushed and even does well at the Vet. He is also very friendly with new people, happily walking right up for attention. Whether it’s a car ride, a trip to the dog park, or just spending time by your side, Thorne is happiest when he’s included. Thorne has lived with **cats**, chickens, and ducks, and has been taught to respect them — though he may try to sneak in a few friendly licks! He does well with other dogs and is very playful and social, especially at the dog park. On leash, he can be a bit eager and reactive when he sees other dogs, but it’s all excitement — he just wants to make friends. Because of his strength, this strong, energetic boy, would do best with **older kids** who can match his enthusiasm. If you’re looking for a fun-loving, well-rounded companion who’s ready to be your adventure buddy and best friend. Thorne is ready to join your pack. 🐾💛
