Story
This stunning 5-year-old Orange Belton English Setter is ready to find a family that understands him. He’s a big boy at about 70 lbs and while we know he is an English Setter, we can only speculate about his bloodlines because of his larger size. Augie is a smart, independent, treat-motivated boy who picks up on training quickly. But he’ll need an adopter with expertise and patience to help him build confidence, especially in new situations. Here’s what makes Augie special:  Low prey drive – no lizard or squirrel-chasing chaos here!  Companions  – he is ok with the company of female dogs his size but honestly people are his favorite, and he doesn’t need another dog in his forever home.  Yard enthusiast – a good-sized, securely fenced yard (6’ fencing) is important for his playtime.  Timid but willing – he may start off a little nervous, but with time, he’ll blossom into a devoted companion. Augie is searching for a kind and experienced adopter who will guide him with love, consistency, and patience. Because of his size and enthusiasm for his people, he’s looking for a home without children or older folks who might be accidentally knocked about by his affectionate nature. Could that be you? Apply today and give this sweet boy the home he’s been waiting for!  March 8, 2026, 1:40 pm

Story
Sampson is a 50-lb, approximately 8-year-old English Setter who came to SWESR after being found as a stray in Utah. He’s settled into his foster home beautifully and has proven to be a sweet, smart, and adaptable boy. Sammy helped choose his new name (lots of tail wagging) and responded to it ever since. He’s fully house-trained and clearly communicates when he needs to go outside. He’s also quite talkative in general; whether he’s asking for a walk, a treat, or some attention, he’ll let you know. He can stay home uncrated for 4–5 hours without any issues. At night, he sleeps soundly on his dog bed next to the human bed and regularly logs a full 8+ hours. Sammy is very affectionate and loves being close to his people. Hugs and couch snuggles are high on his priority list. He has been working through some mild resource guarding of his humans, particularly around sharing lap or couch time with other dogs; but he has made steady progress. He currently lives with two other male English Setters and gets along well with them. He does not guard toys or food. He’s an active dog who does best with regular exercise and mental stimulation. His foster mom walks him up to 5 miles a day, which keeps him happy and relaxed in the evenings. He enjoys long walks, trips to the dog park, and car rides (he’s quite enthusiastic about riding shot-gun). Because he was a stray, he can get very excited at doors and may try to push past when heading outside. This is easily managed by leashing him before opening the door. He’ll need a home that’s mindful about keeping doors and gates secure. Once outside, he is not a fence jumper or climber. Due to the door excitement and his mild guarding of human attention, Sammy would likely do best in an adult home or one without young children. Overall, Sampson is a loving, active companion who bonds closely with his people and thrives with structure, exercise, and affection. He has the cutest little face and is a very special boy. It will be hard for Foster Mom to say goodbye, but he deserves a family all his own.April 10, 2026, 4:51 pm

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Hi, my name is Gus and I'm one amazing boy, says my foster mom.  I was rescued from a Utah shelter where I was picked up as a stray. They say I am 10 years old, but I still have spurts of puppy energy. I like other dogs and play bow to get their attention. My favorite person in my house though is my 5 year old human brother. I really like all the humans in my house too and am said to be a bit velcro, with a smidge of separation anxiety which is probably the result of being lost or dumped and living on my own for a while before rescue. I am very people and dog friendly, currently living with three Brittanys, age 6-13 and my most perfect home would include humans that are retired or work from home and other friendly dogs to play with and keep me company. I love my walks and am easy to walk on a harness.  I also enjoy stretching my legs at the dog park; if I get uncomfortable, I seek out my foster mom for security and safety. She says my recall is pretty good, but I still need a securely fenced yard that is at least 3.5' - my current fence is 6'. Breakfast shall be served at 7:00 am and I will get you up, not with a loud bark, but more of a muffled constant encouragement. I am still a little on the lean side and food is important! I could eat three times a day. I am crate trained and house trained. Cats are not my friends, but who needs them when you have dogs and people. I currently have full run of the house and am not destructive (only one of the benefits of a senior). I do however love to cuddle with my humans and furniture privileges are a must. I am fully vetted, was neutered and vaccinations up to date and even had a dental.  I do need a little help being lifted into an SUV or truck and sometimes I might need help out too, but mostly I just hop out if it's not too high off the ground. Really and truly, I do sound pretty amazing, don't you think? If your home could use some love, I'm available. April 10, 2026, 4:51 pm
