STAR is a foster-based rescue. All our rescue animals stay in foster homes until adoption. We do not have a central facility. If you want to meet any of our adoptables please submit an application. Meet Stew — Your Future King of Cuddles! Hi there! My name is Stew, and I’m a 2-year-old American Bully who has traded a life of squalor for one of soft beds, full bellies, and being treated like the royalty I truly am. When my foster mom first got me, I was very underweight… but don’t worry, I’m filling out beautifully and feeling better every day! Despite my rough start, I am incredibly sweet and just want to be loved. I adore my toys, enjoy being near my people, and would thrive with an active family who likes walks, playtime, and maybe even some adventures. Food was scarce in my past, so mealtime is basically my favorite thing ever—but I don’t resource guard, and I’m learning to take treats gently like a perfect little gentleman. I haven’t lived with other dogs or cats in my foster home, so my compatibility is still unknown, but I’m not overly reactive when I see other dogs out and about, like at the vet. With proper intros, I may do just fine! If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate, wiggly, toy-loving guy who is ready to be spoiled for the rest of his life, then look no further. All STAR animals come vetted, Up to Date (UTD) on age appropriate shots and testing, spay and neutered (if of age,) and microchipped. AGE DISCLAIMER: Unfortunately, most of the orphaned animals that come into our rescue looking for homes don’t bring birth certificates. Sometimes we know our pets’ ages. Sometimes we don’t. So we make our best guess based on the condition of their teeth and the veterinarians best guess. BREED DISCLAIMER: Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label . Microchips: For the safety of our dogs and peace of mind of our fosters and adopters, STAR microchips all dogs prior to adoption with Petlink Microchips. Please understand that all dogs MUST still wear a collar with ID tags (which include your current information) AT ALL TIMES. Please remember, our foster dogs are extremely important to us-- we will always take any of our dogs back, if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog. Never surrender him/her to a shelter!
