STAR is a foster-based rescue. All our rescue animals stay in foster homes until adoption. We do not have a central facility. If you want to meet any of our adoptables please submit an application.  Meet Hazelnut: The Sweetest Momma Around! Hazelnut has been busy raising her TEN adorable babies, soon she'll be ready to find her own happily-ever-after! This petite, 45-pound sweetheart has been the most amazing mom, but soon it will be her turn to be spoiled and cherished. Hazelnut is: &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 Crate trained &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 A dream on a leash &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 A professional cuddler who can’t get close enough &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 Great with other dogs after proper introductions &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 Friendly with everyone she meets She’s the perfect blend of playful and loving—she adores her snacks and toys just as much as she loves curling up next to her people. Hazelnut has been nothing short of amazing while raising her little ones, and if they’re even half as sweet as she is, they’re going to be incredible dogs! Hazelnut is already spayed and will be ready to go home on Valentine’s Day, 2025. Could you be her Valentine? Adoption Fee: $265 Fill out a pre-approval application today to give this perfect momma the forever home she deserves! All STAR animals come vetted, Up to Date (UTD) on age appropriate shots and testing, spay and neutered (if of age,) and microchipped. AGE DISCLAIMER: Unfortunately, most of the orphaned animals that come into our rescue looking for homes don’t bring birth certificates. Sometimes we know our pets’ ages. Sometimes we don’t. So we make our best guess based on the condition of their teeth and the veterinarians best guess.   BREED DISCLAIMER: Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label . Microchips: For the safety of our dogs and peace of mind of our fosters and adopters, STAR microchips all dogs prior to adoption with Petlink Microchips. Please understand that all dogs MUST still wear a collar with ID tags (which include your current information) AT ALL TIMES. Please remember, our foster dogs are extremely important to us-- we will always take any of our dogs back, if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog. Never surrender him/her to a shelter! Lily is about 16 weeks as of 6/20/24. This sweet puppy is looking for a loving home where they cherish their fur-babies and will be able to give her the time to exercise and train.. Lily needs to find a home where she is part of the family and will be given the best training and socializing so she grows up to be a great dog. Story
We got Dobby through a rescue. He is a smart boy and very loving. He is good around our granddaughter but sometimes he forgets how big he is. He chases our cat but not in a harmful way, more in a playful way. The only reason we are looking to remove is Dobby is getting possessive over me. When our other dog is getting attention he gets jealous and lately he has been growling at her. My husband also doesn’t want to keep Dobby, because he says he is too big nw that he if full grown. Dobby weighs about 83 lbs. Dobby rings a jingle bell to go out side, it hangs on our sliding glass door. He also sits and waits to eat until we pet him and say ok. Our daughter taught him to shake when she says give me some and holds out her hand. Dobby also knows when it is wet outside and he comes in, if I have a towel in my hand he will sit and give me his paws so I can wipe them off. I really do love him so much!!! I also love my husband and to keep peace in our home, I need to find Dobby a new home.

Story
**in a foster home and not at the kennel** Howdy, folks! Name’s Yeehaw! I ain’t your ordinary dog, no siree! My life is like a comedy show, full of twists and turns. So, how did I end up here? Well, I was playing fetch with a donut. Yes, a donut! I ran into a police station, thinking it was a game. Next thing I know, I am being escorted to the shelter. Can you believe that? They thought I was a donut thief! I was just hungry. Now I’m looking for a new home, where the food is plenty and the love never ends. If you are up for some fun, laughter, and endless games of fetch then I’m your dog! I’m super friendly and like other dogs. I am not much for long walks. I prefer fun and games. Sadly, fun and games is what got me here in the first place. Some structure and consistency in my world would be great for me! My mugshot doesn’t say it but I’m about 2 years old and around 40 Lbs. Since I now have a record as a thief (I plead the fifth!), I will need an adult only home who can help me work on trading instead of stealing food and treats! If you got what I need to help me change my ways and keep me on the straight and narrow path then come meet me! I’ll be in my jail cell at k9. Feel free to pre-submit an application for me at k9stray.com and one of my wardens will contact you. *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats*

Story
Hi there! I'm a sweet and cuddly boy who's looking for my forever home. I'm a big fan of people and dogs, and I'm always excited to meet new friends. I'm not very fond of being crated, but I'm potty trained and walk well on a leash. I'm a very chill dog, but I do love to be around my favorite people. I'm a total Velcro dog and I'll follow you around everywhere you go. I love to snuggle on the couch and I'm a great listener. I'm also a big marshmallow and the perfect 50 lb weighted heating blanket. If any children are in your home, they would need to be at least13 years old. I need a leader to look to and teach me how to be the best I can be. I'm sure you'll love me as much as I will love you! So, what are you waiting for? Let’s meet up! I promise you won't be disappointed. If you are interested in Moonie and are at least 21 years old, please fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*
