Age: 6 years old (approx) Weight: 50 pounds Adoption Fee: $175 (includes microchip, neuter surgery and vaccinations) Papa is a very friendly medium-sized dog who is sweet and people-oriented. He knows how to SIT, lay down, and SHAKE hands and will even do this with either paw! He is quite playful but also a well-behaved adult dog. He likes car rides and going for puppacinos and frozen yogurt! He loves all people and loves to make new friends! We have also discovered he seems to enjoy wearing hats and sweaters, and he's so photogenic that you cannot help but dress him up for pictures! He's our resident Dog Model who will wear just about anything and has fun too. Got Netflix? He'll binge-watch whatever you're watching with you (we can't guarantee he'll stay awake though!) We have also found that Papa also really likes race tracks! He has been to Virginia International Raceway THREE times and loves all the people and noise.  His ideal home would have no other dogs (cats who know dogs are OK) and no small children/toddlers (he jumps a little bit when he's excited and could knock a little child over without meaning harm). He likes to run around with balls so a fenced yard is required. **************************************************************************** Papa is available for adoption through Spirit Canine Rescue. To adopt Papa, please visit our website http://www.spiritcaninerescue.org/adopt.html for more information and to complete an application. A home visit will be required prior to adoption. We request that all adopters be within reasonable traveling distance to Burlington NC.   * Our only obligation is to the dogs in our program and we reserve the right to determine whether a particular dog and the adopter are the right fit. Remember, just because a dog "looks" like the one you want, that does not necessarily mean that the dog will "behave" like the one you want! Rusty is an affectionate, easygoing guy who’s thriving in foster care. He settled in right away, picked out a favorite toy from a basket, and made himself at home. He`s a total cuddle bug who follows his foster around like a little shadow and loves to curl up in a lap for naps. He enjoys short bursts of play with squeaky toys, but his favorite thing is working on a pupcicle treat toy.He`s housetrained with no accidents reported and has good leash manners, though he may pull a bit if he spots another dog or wildlife—he’s easily redirected. Rusty rides well in the car with a seatbelt leash and has been calm and polite during outings. He greets new people gently without jumping or barking. He prefers not to share space with other dogs and we`re unsure about cats.

Meet Queen, a charming and sassy sidekick who`s equal parts snuggle bug, road trip companion, and toy-loving goofball. She’s all about her people and would happily follow you from room to room, or better yet, hop in the car for your next adventure. Queen is a professional passenger—calm, happy, and convinced that every ride needs her royal presence. She`s also potty trained, crate aware (though she’ll politely bark when she’s ready to come out), and great on leash with just a little pulling when she`s excited. Queen recently took on a 7-mile hike at Eno River State Park and absolutely crushed it. Suspension bridges? No problem. Crowds of school kids? Handled like a pro. She navigated everything with confidence and grace—earning some laughs and a few “Scooby-Doo” comments along the way. At home, Queen is a toy and treat-motivated gal who loves to chew on bones and play with her stash of goodies throughout the day. She gets along well with the calm senior dog in her foster home and minds her business like the classy lady she is. She`s also great with kids, though she prefers to enjoy her meals and bones without interruptionWhile Queen has some minor mobility quirks—likely due to a hip or leg issue—she doesn’t let it slow her down much. She handles steps with care and is happiest on flat ground where she can stay close to you. In the backyard, she’ll stick right by your side and comes when called. Queen is a sweet, spunky, and loyal dog who’s looking for a home where she can be part of the action, soak up affection, and chew to her heart’s content.
