Age: 6 years old (approx) Weight: 50 pounds Adoption Fee: $175 (includes microchip, neuter surgery and vaccinations) Papa is a very friendly medium-sized dog who is sweet and people-oriented. He knows how to SIT, lay down, and SHAKE hands and will even do this with either paw! He is quite playful but also a well-behaved adult dog. He likes car rides and going for puppacinos and frozen yogurt! He loves all people and loves to make new friends! We have also discovered he seems to enjoy wearing hats and sweaters, and he's so photogenic that you cannot help but dress him up for pictures! He's our resident Dog Model who will wear just about anything and has fun too. Got Netflix? He'll binge-watch whatever you're watching with you (we can't guarantee he'll stay awake though!) We have also found that Papa also really likes race tracks! He has been to Virginia International Raceway THREE times and loves all the people and noise.  His ideal home would have no other dogs (cats who know dogs are OK) and no small children/toddlers (he jumps a little bit when he's excited and could knock a little child over without meaning harm). He likes to run around with balls so a fenced yard is required. **************************************************************************** Papa is available for adoption through Spirit Canine Rescue. To adopt Papa, please visit our website http://www.spiritcaninerescue.org/adopt.html for more information and to complete an application. A home visit will be required prior to adoption. We request that all adopters be within reasonable traveling distance to Burlington NC.   * Our only obligation is to the dogs in our program and we reserve the right to determine whether a particular dog and the adopter are the right fit. Remember, just because a dog "looks" like the one you want, that does not necessarily mean that the dog will "behave" like the one you want! Franklin is a high-energy, 13-month-old bully mix currently looking for his forever home. He would thrive in a busy, active household. Franklin especially enjoys his time at "puppy camp" where he socializes with many people and has playtime with other high-energy dogs. He likes taking long walks and enjoys exploring new places. He requires a physically strong owner who can confidently assume the leadership role, which will allow Franklin to relax and avoid feeling the need to be the alpha in his new environment. In his previous home, Franklin had a hard time settling down in the evenings and is currently taking medication for anxiety. Preference will go to potential owners who have experience with high-energy bully breeds and a fenced backyard or space where he can play outside off leash. Two references required. Neutered and fully up to date on vaccinations. House-trained. Uses crate when home alone.

Story
Snookie is a sweet rescue pup who’s almost 2 years old. I’ve been fostering her for a couple of months, and she has come such a long way. As a puppy, she was left alone and uncared for, which made her reactive in new environments. Despite that, she is incredibly loving—she wants to cuddle, be close to you, and feel safe. She walks well on a leash but can get scared when people or dogs pass by. I’ve been working on redirecting her, and she’s slowly improving. Snookie also lives with two small French Bulldogs and does great with them. She even interacts calmly with an outside kitty. Her house training has improved so much. When she first arrived, she had many accidents, but now she has had 0 accidents indoors! Snookie needs a home with someone patient who’s willing to continue her training.
