Story
Meet Queen, a charming and sassy sidekick who`s equal parts snuggle bug, road trip companion, and toy-loving goofball. She’s all about her people and would happily follow you from room to room, or better yet, hop in the car for your next adventure. Queen is a professional passenger—calm, happy, and convinced that every ride needs her royal presence. She`s also potty trained, crate aware (though she’ll politely bark when she’s ready to come out), and great on leash with just a little pulling when she`s excited. Queen recently took on a 7-mile hike at Eno River State Park and absolutely crushed it. Suspension bridges? No problem. Crowds of school kids? Handled like a pro. She navigated everything with confidence and grace—earning some laughs and a few “Scooby-Doo” comments along the way. At home, Queen is a toy and treat-motivated gal who loves to chew on bones and play with her stash of goodies throughout the day. She gets along well with the calm senior dog in her foster home and minds her business like the classy lady she is. She`s also great with kids, though she prefers to enjoy her meals and bones without interruptionWhile Queen has some minor mobility quirks—likely due to a hip or leg issue—she doesn’t let it slow her down much. She handles steps with care and is happiest on flat ground where she can stay close to you. In the backyard, she’ll stick right by your side and comes when called. Queen is a sweet, spunky, and loyal dog who’s looking for a home where she can be part of the action, soak up affection, and chew to her heart’s content. If you’re searching for a loving, adventurous companion with a big personality and an even bigger heart, Queen just might be your match!

Story
I was surrendered to the shelter when my owner could no longer keep me. I am a sweetie pie and I have done well with some other dogs in monitored play groups. It is unknown how I might behave around cats. I`ll need slow, monitored introductions to new people or pets in a home. Visit this page for more information about properly introducing pets.Consider adopting me today! Foster notes on Ivy:`Ivy is such a sweetie! We did a three mile hike at Occoneechee Mountain and she did great. She pulls on the leash a bit, but no lunging. I had no trouble keeping her under control. During our car rides, she sat still and enjoyed having the window open a bit. Once she got to know me, she was affectionate and like to give kisses. She loved the dog bed at my house and nuzzled into the corners and rolled around. She also liked getting belly rubs and cuddled with me while I read a book. Favorite thing: Her sweet nature. She listens and obeys and is affectionate.`

Story
A few notes from Jax's amazing foster family! "Our newest foster Jax is available for adoption from Guilford County Animal Shelter! A big detail to consider that doesn't define him, but certainly makes him unique is he is completely blind and partly hard of hearing. But don't let that write you off! While he needs guidance navigating his walks outdoors, he has quickly learned the lay out of our home and gently finds his way around and loooves to stroll the fenced in back yard where he knows he is safe. We have lovingly nicknamed him Roomba! Car rides do make him nervous. However, slow gentle back roads with the window rolled down will make him crack a smile and hang that big block head out the window. He's estimated to be 10 years old, though I would question being more 12, is a stocky medium build, approximately 60-70 lbs, house trained, sleeps a solid 9 hrs, and doesn't make a peep! He loves cuddles and interaction, and loves dogs! I believe he would do great with other dogs in the home that also have more of a laid back quiet lifestyle that can give him guidance and companionship. Being blind, hyper barking dogs that would roughhouse may stress him out as he spends his down time gnawing on a bone and laying on his bed catching a snooze." As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines.
