Story
Meet Mercedes! A smooshy faced, love bug! Mercedes has yet to meet a person or dog she doesn't like. She is great with all humans big and small, and even though she likes children she is still working on her manners (like not jumping to say hi) so she may be best suited in a home with kids ages 5+. She is getting better though and is highly food motivated making her easy to train. Mercedes is a low/medium energy dog. She loves playing with her foster fur brother, but is also content just lounging around or chewing on her bones. She enjoys walks down the road but if you are looking for a hiking partner Mercedes might not be your gal. More than anything she just loves her people. She loves snuggling on the couch, getting belly rubs, ear scratches, and getting as much attention as she can. Beware of the giant slobbery kisses. She wouldn't mind a furry playmate but would be just as content as the only pup, soaking up all the love. Mercedes is doing really well on her leash training, she is strong and her foster mom has helped her understand how she is expected to walk on the leash. She is almost completely potty trained. Mercedes doesn't mind the crate and is in it when her foster mom is at work and at night time. She will sometimes protest for a few minutes at night before settling down and sleeping through the night. Mercedes does LOVE her food and is a fast eater. Her foster mom has found that a slow feeder dog bowl has been very helpful in getting her to eat at a slower pace. Mercedes does currently reside with a dog savvy cat. She has shown interest in the cat, but is not persistent and responds well to correction. I feel she could live with a cat if trained appropriately and taught the expectations. Mercedes will make a great addition to any family, she is sweet, loving and full of personality. Mercedes has been treated for heartworm disease and will need to keep up on monthly preventions (we will supply 12 months worth) with restricted, no physical exertion, exercise.
