Shelter FAQs

The Friends of Powell County’s Pets is a Non-profit organization located in Powell County Kentucky. FOPCP works closely with Powell County’s animal control to increase the visibility of adoptable pets living in the county’s shelter, and to place these pets in rescues or forever homes. Any donation or grant money received goes to directly support the care of homeless cats and dogs in Powell County and to facilitate their transportation to no-kill facilities in the United States and Canada. Care includes emergency and acute veterinarian care, vaccinations, heartworm treatment/prevention, internal and external parasite treatment/prevention, spay/neuter, and treatment of communicable infectious illnesses among cats and dogs. We also strive to educate the community about the importance of spaying and neutering while providing low-cost spay and neuter clinics.
