My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Everyone, meet sweet Marissa. This girl's story tugs at your heartstrings. Marissa was found alone in a field with no food, water or shelter in sight, extremely thin and had freshly given birth to a litter of 13 puppies. She was in desperate need of help. We promptly took her and her new babies into our rescue where she allowed us to care for her while she lovingly cared for her babies. She was sweet right from the get-go and was a terrific mom. Despite her challenging entry into motherhood, she successfully nursed her entire litter – they’re all grown now and thriving. That was 3 years ago. Although she is loved and well cared for here, kennel life is no long term solution for any dog. She deserves all the comfort and joy that comes from being part of a loving home where she is doted on and shown just how much there is in life to be enjoyed. She's sweet and attentive towards humans; likes to be pet and snuggled. She greets every day with a smile that just brightens our hearts. We estimate she was born early 2020. We'd love a home for her where she will receive plenty of mental and physical activity like daily walks while also enjoying downtime beside her human. She must be the only animal in the home. She weighs around 75 lbs, is spayed, up to date with vaccinations and micro-chipped. If interested in providing a home for sweet Marissa, please email us for an application at adoptions@smilingdogfarms.org

Please note we are always in need of foster homes for our dogs, Marissa included. If interested in making a difference in a dog's life, we would love to share with you what it means to be a foster parent. Foster homes greatly increase the chances of speedier adoptions and you'd be making a huge, positive difference in the life of an animal who needs you.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We are dedicated to ensuring that our dogs go to a "forever" loving, nurturing home. As a result, our process is stringent, requiring an application, home visit, vet and reference checks and an adoption contract. We want the adoption to be a match made in heaven for both the new adoptive parents and the adopted dog.

Go meet their pets

We provide adoption opportunities for those living in the Northeast who are willing to do long distance adoptions. Many of our dogs live in Wharton, Texas but we have very safe, reliable transport to the Northeast.

More about this rescue

Smiling Dog Farms is a 501(c) non-profit animal rescue. We strive to restore hope to the forgotten, neglected and rejected unwanted dogs and puppies rescued from the streets and local kill-shelters. Each dog that enters our rescue receives their full round of vaccinations, gets spayed or neutered, micro-chipped and placed on flea and tick and heartworm prevention. Many of our dogs live in Wharton Texas, but we have very safe, reliable transport to the Northeast.
