Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Are you looking for a silly and goofy boy to add to your family? Well look no further as Happy is here! Happy is exactly as his name puts it. He is a super sweet boy that believes he is a lap dog and wants nothing more than to be around people and play with. He is also a big fan of squeaky toys even if he doesn't fully understand what it is, he will boop them with his nose to get it to squeak and then looked puzzled after the noise stops. This handsome man is guaranteed to bring a smile to the face of everyone that meets him.
~ Happy is looking for an active home that will be able to take him on lots of adventures ~ Happy would do best in a home with a single person, couple or family with older children that have large dog experience as he needs work on his manners ~ While in our care we have noted that Happy may have some possible resource guarding ~ Happy will need to be signed up for training prior to going into his fur-ever home to ensure he gets help on his manners and the possible resource guarding
Explanation of Behaviours: - Happy is a high energy dog that will need plenty of daily exercise, enrichment, attention and training to set him up for success. - He can become jumpy and mouthy when excited, playing or when he is trying to grab treats. His new family will need to work on his manners as well as his self-control to ensure he is successful in his new home. - Happy was noted to have possible resource guarding showing low level signs specifically with food. His family will need to work with their trainer to begin working on this behaviour right away so it does not become more difficult. - Happy is under-socialized and his new family will need to work with him to slowly and positively socialize him to the world around him. - Happy has shown to be a little shy/nervous with new people. His new family should do slow introductions with new people to ensure he is comfortable.
This dog would benefit from: - An active home - Lots of training and socialization - Lots of time and attention - Older children with lived in large dog experience
Training needs/behaviours that need to be worked with for this dog: - Basic obedience training - Basic manners (jumping up, mouthing / grabbing treats, self-control) - Socialization
**For more information on any behaviours stated above, please check out our behaviour fact sheet: https://kwsphumane.ca/BehavioursandDefinitions
**Please remember that animals are coming back from foster care to the centres for their meet and greets. They will be experiencing a new environment and meeting new people, which means they may not exhibit the same behaviours they did in their foster videos or while in foster care.

Come into the Centre and if you see a pet you like, you are able to do a "Meet and Greet" with that pet. Spend some time in alone with the pet or take a dog out for a short walk. If you are still interested in adopting the pet you can meet with one of our Adoption Counsellors who will have you fill out and application and will ask you some questions about the environment in which you live. If you seem like a wonderful match and your envirnoment meets the needs of the pet then your application should be approved!
