Meet Monica – a brave and beautiful soul who’s already endured far more than any puppy should.

This 6–8-month-old, 35 lb sweetheart was found as a stray, her small body covered in mange and a severe staph infection after lacking even the most basic care. But Monica’s resilience shines through—she has fully recovered, and her soft coat is now filling back in.

Despite everything she’s endured, Monica is nothing but gentle, trusting, and affectionate. She greets people with kind eyes and an open heart, ready to give love as soon as she receives it.

Now all Monica needs is a family to help her continue healing on the inside and give her the future she deserves.

Visit the Facility and Find a Pet

We prefer to schedule appointments for meet-and-greets to ensure that staff or volunteers are available to spend adequate time helping you/

Meet the Pet

For safety reasons, please do not reach into kennels or attempt to touch animals through barriers. If you’re interested in a particular pet.

Submit Application

After your visit, you’re welcome to submit an adoption application.

4.
Approve Application

After the application is submitted, we will review it and contact you if your application is chosen.

5.
Take the Pet Home

Once your application is approved, we will contact you to finalize the adoption process!

All that is needed for the adoption application is a

We are located at 1600 Johnson Road in Petersburg, Virginia.
Our hours of operation are Monday - Friday 10am till 3pm.
We are closed Saturdays and Sundays (as well as holidays) but are available by appointment outside of our open hours.
