My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My name is Lovey and here is a bot more about me :

My Journey
I have been living a happy, comfortable life despite being FeLV+ (Feline Leukemia Virus positive). I recently received a dental cleaning and currently doing well with no serious health issues. I am now ready to find a loving forever home where I can continue to thrive and be adored just as I am.

My Social Life
Other cats: Because I am FeLV+, I need to be the only cat in the home or live with another FeLV+ kitty.
Dogs: I haven’t shared much about dogs yet and may need a slow introduction if they’re part of the household.
Kids: I would likely do best with calm, gentle humans who enjoy a relaxed, affectionate companion.

My Personality
I’m mellow, easygoing, and incredibly loving. I have a gentle presence and enjoy a slower pace of life. I’m affectionate without being demanding and happiest when I’m close to my people, soaking up attention and pets. I have a big heart, a calm spirit, and lots of love to give.

I Enjoy
Snuggling up next to my humans and enjoying plenty of pets
Lounging comfortably and being part of whatever you’re doing
Mealtime… especially mealtime (I really love food!)

I’m Not a Fan Of
Dieting… but I understand it might be for my own good ??

What Makes Me Special
My round shape, gentle nature, and love of food only add to my charm. I reward good care with endless affection, soft purrs, and loyal companionship.

My Perfect Home
My ideal home would be calm and loving, with people who enjoy a relaxed, affectionate cat. I would thrive as the only cat soaking up all the attention, or with another FeLV+ feline companion. A family willing to monitor my health, keep up with routine vet care, and love me unconditionally would be my dream come true.

My Special Needs
I have FeLV — think of it as my own little superhero origin story. It makes my immune system a bit unique, but with a cozy home and attentive care, I can thrive and enjoy every moment. I can safely live with other FeLV-positive cats, or be the star of the home all by myself. I may be special, but trust me… my love is totally super-powered.

More about this rescue

Smittens isn’t just another cat rescue.
We are a coalition of volunteers with a spay/neuter mission, dedicated to helping both stray and owned animals in the greater San Diego area get fixed, receive veterinary care, and whatever else they may need! Smittens works with shelters and other rescues to route cats to proper vet care and eventual homes, and we take in stray cats who need help getting off the street. We also support TNR for feral cats, and assist cat and dog owners to get their own pets fixed and vaccinated at a low cost.
