I’m Lovey, a 5-year-old chubby, friendly girl with a big heart and an even bigger love for food! I’ve tested persistently FeLV+ (Feline Leukemia Virus positive), but I don’t have any serious health issues right now and I’m living a happy, comfortable life.
Because FeLV can be contagious to other cats, I’ll need to be the only cat in the home or live with another FeLV+ kitty. That just means I get to soak up all the attention — and honestly, I think I deserve it!
This year I had a dental cleaning, and I may need another in the future. What can I say? I’m not the best at brushing my teeth. But don’t worry — I’ll reward your care with snuggles, purrs, and a gentle presence.
I’m a mellow, easygoing companion who’s happiest being near my people. I love curling up next to you, soaking in the pets and affection. While I should probably be on a diet (I really do love my food), I think my roundness only adds to my charm.

Smittens isn’t just another cat rescue.
We are a coalition of volunteers with a spay/neuter mission, dedicated to helping both stray and owned animals in the greater San Diego area get fixed, receive veterinary care, and whatever else they may need! Smittens works with shelters and other rescues to route cats to proper vet care and eventual homes, and we take in stray cats who need help getting off the street. We also support TNR for feral cats, and assist cat and dog owners to get their own pets fixed and vaccinated at a low cost.
